I have the same problem. I have found that when you power off the TV at night use front power button, not remote, then power off power strip, unplug power strip. The next morning plug in the power strip, power on power strip, then press the power button on front of TV it will stay on. I think the TV needs the big surg of power it gets when you turn the strip on. I have found if we use the remote it will not stay on, yes we have a new remote. I have also found that unpluging the tv from the strip then pluging it back in does not do the same as having it plugged in then turning the strip on. The repair man said they do not make the part we need for our TV and would cost over 600 and six weeks to get ours rebuilt. Did not tell us which part.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: HITACHI 51F59 51 " TV -- NO SOUND NO PICTURE

If it is only a few days over the warranty call immedieatly, if it is much over that then these newer Hitachis are in my opinion not worth repair, and I mean the newer under $1000 units the parts are near the origianl cost sometimes.

SOURCE: Hitachi 55" Plasma HDTV, 1 yr old, suddenly lost picture and sound, but power light still on.

It sounds like a shutdown circuit is being activated. This is normal in cases where the power supply id drawing excessive current. I would suggest that you get this looked at by a qualified professional. This is because this problem may be in the power supply and the voltages can get dangerous in this section of the TV set.

In any event if this is a power supply problem chances are the technician will just have to replace the power supply. Which should cost from 150-250 dollars.

I hope this helps
