Re: labtop does not turn on
Try this; Disconnect from the AC outlet rmove the dc plug from the jack. Remove the Battery and wait for 5 mins and plug in the AC-DC adaptor without the battery. If the Laptop runs, then wait for the Windows to totally boot up and while running try to put back the battery and observe if it still charges. If it won't still boot up repaet the procedure and before connecting the power remove the memory modules first and install 1 memory at a time.

in that case there must be a recovery partition on the disk - the first screen that appears when you turn the laptop on will tell you what key to press to access it - then just select to recover your laptop and follow the procedure.
yes. the shell is only to hold the components together and to protect the device. you still might need to connect some peripherals to it so that you can use keyboard and mouse. as for the vga you might need to setup a usb or some other connection to have video.
I have a similar issue and when I followed your advice of removing the battery & power adapter, holding down the power button and then re-trying it worked.
Would you mind explaining what "Discharging the laptop" means?
(I bought my Averetac laptop off ebay and this is the 2nd time in a month that it wouldn't power up. The light shows that it the battery is recieving a charge fromthe power cord but it simply won't turn on)
