2008 Astra sticks in 4th gear why?

There could be several reasons why a 2008 Astra may become stuck in 4th gear. Here are a few potential causes:

1. Transmission issues: A problem with the transmission itself, such as a damaged gear or a malfunctioning shift solenoid, can cause the vehicle to remain stuck in a particular gear.

2. Clutch problems: If there is a problem with the clutch system, such as a worn clutch disc or a faulty release bearing, it can prevent proper gear engagement and cause the vehicle to stay in 4th gear.

3. Shift linkage or cables: Issues with the shift linkage or cables that connect the gear shift lever to the transmission can result in difficulty changing gears, including becoming stuck in 4th gear.

4. Hydraulic issues: Problems with the hydraulic system, such as low fluid levels, leaks, or a malfunctioning clutch master or slave cylinder, can affect the proper operation of the clutch and transmission, potentially causing gear-related issues.

It is important to have a qualified mechanic inspect and diagnose the specific cause of the problem. They can perform a detailed diagnostic procedure, check for error codes in the vehicle's computer system, and conduct necessary tests to identify and resolve the issue with the 4th gear sticking.

Our Isuzu Fuego LS 4x2 Manual Transmission doesn't move even the shift stick is already palced in First Gear, even in second gear and third gear and fifth gear also no reverse, to sum up only 4th gear will...

you may have a shaft key broken in the transmission. 4th is usually 1-1 drive and does not need the key. before removing the transmission, check to make sure the linkage is OK by shifting gears at the transmission. If you can get other gears at the transmission, then the problem is the shifter.

Transmission is shifting hard and slow to pull on a 95 silouette also makes clucking sounds while accelerating

Shift suddenly become very hard. When going from park to either reverse or drive it slams into gear. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are also harsh. All gears seems to work. Problem may be intermittent: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace.

Extremely harsh shifts from P or N, normal shifts at WOT: EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break.

No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

Car goes into gear but feels very sluggish like the brakes are dragging, but it will roll easily (starts out in 4th gear), you manually shift to 2 to get it moving, once it's moving you put it back in OD and the car shifts 3rd to 4th on its own and locks the converter at the appropriate time: ShiftB solenoid failed: Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

'89 dodge dakota manual transmission A535 will not shift out of 4th gear. the stick will move around and even go into other slots but gear stays locked in 4th. what's wrong

Most likely solution is the gear selector fork in the transmission has broken and is no longer engaging the gears.

Repair requires transmission removal and partial overhaul.

1987 dodge dakota 5 speed manual not shifting into 4th

Unfortunately any problem it could be will have the same fix. You will end up needing the trans replaced or rebuilt.

'99 wrangler has trouble shifting to 2nd gear - 4th gear occasionally slips to neutral

If you can see where the shifter goes through the floorboard, make sure the shifter is not hitting the floor.
There could be interfierence under the car also.
