I get a thick vertical black line/margin down the entire page when i scan on my SX115

Please make sure the scanner flatbed is clean.
You can also try to copy and see if it happens on copying.
If it does, then your printer needs servicing.

Black marks on the entire page

If the marks look like brushstokes all over the page, then it most likely needs a drum GPR-6. Black marks can be caused by a dirty **** glass (the thin one) as well. the easyest way to tell is if the black lines are only on copies that went through the feeder and not on print jobs, faxes,or copies made off the glass then the **** glass needs cleaned.

Black/grey alignment lines on copies

straight away the cartrides need to be cleaned and the ink holders need to be cleand.
same with a carriage rod.
take a cotton swab dip it in water and then clean the above parts.
also connect the printer directly to the wall jack witout the surge protector.

now check if you get the same error on the alignment page

Thick black line through page when copying or scanning

Sounds like part of your scanner is not functioning and reading black all the time. Probably best to return it for a replacement.

Sharp AR-207 copier puts .5 inch black line across entire bottom of copy

does the line only show up when making copies from the adf or both when you put it on the glass. if only when thru the adf the **** glass is dirty. that is the glass that is only about an inch wide. be carefull of the two pieces of tape that are on both the front and back of that glass they fall off easly.

Copier problem

HP.com has a few web pages that might help. One is a general troubleshooting page that you can review and the other specifically addresses the issue of "white lines" in a copy:

Troubleshooting Copying Issues

White Lines Through Copies

Read through both web pages and see if there's a suggestion that will help solve your problem. Good luck.
