1) use a printer (especially inkjet once a week
2) Sometimes in the printer settings you can adjust the colors , dont'know if this works with canon also .. it is usually in the advanced printer settings .

Did you replace the tri-colour ink-cartridge, or did you replace the print-head mechanism?

Are you sure that the CYAN part of the ink-cartridge is not empty?

Suddenly stopped printing all colors. Will only

Hi, it could be few things wich you having problem with.

First, how old are the ink tanks, it could be clodged.
Second the print head nozzles are clodged at that places.
Third, the purge unit does not work OK.

First remove all inks out and remove print head. Then on wet cloth, wet it with distiled water, few times press the bottom of print head ( nozzles ), then the 4 circles must change from colour to white. That means that nozzles are cleaned.
Dry head by pressing it on dry cloth.

Put it in, also the inks, and run few times the deep head cleaning. Every time take a look at print pattern.
If the head is to badlly clodged, test pattern would be just a little bit more better.

But now you know if the problem is in head or something else ( purge unit or inks ). The new head isnt so cheap regarding the printer so then the best solution would be to buy new printer.
If you do not want to buy laser colour printer, atleast buy one on wich ink tanks has printhead on. Its slightly costly, but you have one worry less - the print head is changed every time you change the ink.

Hope that helped

The colour is faint, a new catridge was installed

Hi there,
When printing becomes faint or colors are incorrect, even if ink remains in the ink tanks, the print head nozzles are probably clogged. Follow the procedures below to clean the nozzles.

Step 1 : Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern.
If white stripes are noticeable
Step 2 : "Aligning the Print Head"
If print quality is poor
Step 2 : "Print Head Cleaning"
if the problem remains
Step 3 : Print Head Deep Cleaning"
if the problem still remains
Step 4 : Replacing Ink Tanks.

Note : * If the ink tank replacement does not resolve the problem, contact the Customer Care Center.
* You will be alerted if low ink warning is enabled.
* When the Maintenace button on the operation panel is pressed, the maintenance mode is shown. Numbers and functions that can be selected on the maintenance mode as follows :
01 : Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern
02 : Print Head Cleaning
03 : Print Head Deep Cleaning
04 : Aligning the Print Head
05 : Reset the ink counter.
06 : "Display" or "Not Display" remaining ink volume.
07 : Date and order setting.

Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern : Print the nozzle check patterb to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print head nozzles and to verify print head alignment. Use this function when printed results are blurred or the color is incorrect,
1) With the printer on, load a sheet of Letter paper in the printer.
2) Print the Nozzle Check Pattern.
a) Press the Maintenance button,
b) The Maintenance icon and 01 appear on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button. The nozzle check pattern is printed.
3) Examine the nozzle check pattern output by the printer.
a) Lines missing in this pattern indicate that the print head of black ink requires cleaning. Perform the Print Head Cleaning.
b) White stripes in this pattern indicate that the print head of color ink requires cleaning. Perform the Print Head Cleaning.
c) Uneven patterns indicate that the print head requires alignment.
Perform Aligning of Print Head.
d) Noticeable white stripes in this pattern indicate that the print head require alignment.
Perform Aligning of Print Head.

Print Head Cleaning : Clean the print head if you suspect that the nozles might be clogged. Cleaning the print head consumes ink, so perform print head cleaning only when necessary.
1) Ensure that the printer is on.
2) Start print head cleaning.
a) Press Maintenance button.
b) Press right arrow once to display 02 on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button.
Important : Do not perform any other operations until the print head cleaning finishes. This takes about 50 seconds.
Note : After the print head cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the print head nozzles are clean.
If the problem persists, perform printhead deep cleaning.

Print Head Deep Cleaning : If print quality does not improve by standard print head cleaning, try print head deep cleaning, which is more powerful process. Print head deep cleaning consumes ink, so perforn this procedure only when necessary.
1) Ensure that the printer is on.
2) Start Print Head Deep cleaning.
a) Press Maintenance button.
b) Press right arrow twice to display 03 on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button.
Important : This process takes one or two minutes to complete so simply wait until the Power lamp stops flashing.
Note : After printhead deep cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the printhead nozzles are clean.
If the printhead is still not clean after the second deep cleaning, replace the ink tank.
If ink tank replacement does not resolve the problem, the print head may be worn out. Contact the Customer Care Center.

Hope this helps.
Please rate my response.
Thanks.

Have a good day.

Nothing is printing. It looks like there is no

Hi, To ensure this is only an issue with the black, I recommend printing off a nozzle check. This will show you if this problem is effecting any of the other colours.
To print a nozzle please refer to chapter 12 page 115 of the manual,

If colours are missing I recommend cleaning the print head. You have two options for cleaning the print head a normal clean and a deep clean, start by doing a normal clean if required try doing a deep clean.
You can download the manual here:

Color Printing Problem

Remove all ink cartridges and replace them securely in position. That may be the problem always.
Print nozzle check pattern.See for any missing patterns
Give a head cleaning
Again print nozzle check pattern. If it is ok leave it, other wise give a deep cleaning
  1. If the printed result does not improve even after doing print head deep cleaning, turn off the printer. Then, after 24 hours or later, do print head deep cleaning again. (After a given time interval, ink could dissolve itself, resulting in ink unclogging.)
  2. Atleast a multi colour( like your visiting card) page should be printed in a week time. other wise the ink may clog in the head.

Only prints black & blue

I have a similar problem - i can print all colours apart from red.
I've tried cleaning, deep-cleaning, and even bottom plate cleaning but of none if this improves anything.

Tried cleaning the print heads and nozzles with cotton buds, but this dont do anything. Even tried re-seating the cartridges but this does nothing either
