I fixed this same problem using a registry scanner. Here's a link to a good free one:

I've used this one and it sped up my computer by quite a bit. Hope this helps.

Hello there.

There are two things to check, the first is that the Operating System has the drivers installed and activated for the wireless device. You can confirm this by:

1) Right click "My Computer"
2) Left click "Properties"
3) Left click "Hardware" tab
4) Left click "Device Manager"
5) Left click on "Network Adapters"

Here you will see what devices are available.

If your wireless is listed here but still not functional, then you will need to use the physical switch on the front of notebook.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your query

Underneath your power button there will be several other butons (approx 7), one of them will have a sign like a satelltie dish, this is the WLAN button on the laptop

I?m unable to detect any wireless networks, because the WLAN adaptor hasn?t yet been activated. There is a specific ?hotkey? (function+F1) to enable the WLAN adaptor but the keyboard doesn't work anymore...

Hello shge2dope,

The wireless lan can be activated (enabled) from the control panel as follows:

•Click Start (lower left-hand of screen)
•Select Control Panel
•Select Network and sharing Center (might be called just 'Network')
•Select the wireless lan adapter and enable it

* Another way might be to select the WLAN icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Then right-click and select the option to enable it

If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.

Have a great day,

My wireless wlan card wireless network controller stopped workg

TRY REINSTALLING THE WLAN DRIVER. OR CHECK THE INTERNAL ANTENA CABLES OF WLAN. IF IT NOT WORKS. THEN THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE IT WITH THE WLAN CARD.

Wireless adapter not functioning-

Do the following :
  1. Turn Laptop off, then disconnect adapter and remove battery. Re assemble and restart.
  2. Try clicking the button activating the wireless card.
  3. Reinstall wireless card drivers, select drivers from Compaq Presario V6205NR Notebook PC
  4. If all that did not work, then the internal adapter is faulty. Buy an external wlan adapter:WLAN Adapter WL-167G-£12.90 new

Computer won't work on wireless after reloading windows xp

Many laptops come with a control key or button to disable the wireless radio to save power. First try looking to see if you find one, then turn on the radio. Post back with more info if that doesn't work.

Notebook won't connect to network

1) Verify if Wi-Fi WLAN interface of your notebook is OK.
1a) Check whether HW switch is ON and the wireless system service is running.
1b) Switch on the WLAN Access Point (router) SSID broadcasting.
1c) Scan WLAN networks by the notebook. Can you see your home WLAN? If not, there is HW or SW problem in your wireless adapter probably. If WLAN is visible, continue by next steps.

2) Remove all WLAN security on both sides (AP and notebook): Authentication = none/open, encrytption = none.
3) Activate DHCP server in the router and set the dynamic IP assigning on WLAN notebook interface.
4) Select your home WLAN SSID in the list and try to connect.
5) Wait and check status. Is WLAN connected? Does obtain the notebook an IP address?
6) In success case set the WLAN security.
