Printer hangs on Power up - displays XEROX in LCD Window

Printer will not start up - any clues, this happened following a power outage.

Do any of the fans operate ? Is there any aperance of the power switching on?
Look in the back of the printer and see if you notice any leds on in the machine.
If there is no presence of any power, the electronics module has most likely failed.

8560 printer shut itself down and will not true back on


The following lists the chain of events that occur when you turn on a printer. You can follow this list as one means of determining if the printer is operating correctly. The exact chain of events depends upon the last power down condition and where the printer has last determined the printhead is positioned, this is stored in non-volatile RAM. The Checklist is the primary reference for troubleshooting power-up problems.

1. Power cord is plugged in and the power switch is turned on:

5. Power-On Self Test (POST) initializes the Control Panel. The Control

and waits two seconds. During this time the operator can press the Back

button to bypass the remaining POST test.

6. Low level Power-On Self Test (POST) diagnostics are performed. The

Control Panel displays status messages as each sub-test is performed.

This test takes about 8 seconds. All LEDs are off during the test.

If POST diagnostics pass, the Control Panel displays the Xerox logo and turns on the green LED.

If the test detects an error, the error message displays on the LCD and the printer flashes the LEDs with a repeating error code pattern.

7. The VxWorks operating system is initialized and engine code is started.

This takes about 15 seconds. The Xerox logo is displayed.

8. Print Engine Self Test (PEST) diagnostics are then performed. These test

the heaters, clutches, motors and solenoids. As each clutch is tested, you hear clicking with four high tones as each motor is tested. This test takes about 30 seconds.

9. The printer now runs the mechanical initialization. The exact sequence
depends on the initial position of the printhead and wiper assembly.

This error indicates that the paper path motor stalled. Clear the paper jam, power off the printer for 30 seconds and then turn it back on.

My xerox phaser 8550 displays as offline. how do i get it up and ready to print?


First you need to find out why its offline, it could be the printer is off or the connection to the network or computer is unplugged or loose or just a wacky problem when there is a power outage from time to time or you changed some settings and never reboot your computer.

Try going to Start > Printers and Faxes > Right click on the Phaser printer to check the status there and right click > properties >Ports tab > select your printer and then configure port. a port settings window should open which displays the printers name and IP address. You can also find the IP address on the control panel on the printer scroll down to Information > Printer Identification and the IP address and other printer info should be displayed there.

Copy the IP address and paste it in the browsers address bar and check the status of your printer there, check if there are any jobs waiting to print, try clearing all of them, check the status page to see if there are any issues such as low ink, etc.

After running thru trouble shooting options and help menus there if all else fails, restart your printer by powering down, do the same for your computer and restart them both. I've had these issues before and sometimes just a reboot will correct itself.

You should replace the control panel yourself 802K93650. It's a 5 minute job.

Xerox c2424 error code


the error code is "printhead stuck in the tilted position or not tilting properly over the CAM, due to problems with the process motor gearbox" the 6375 is your print count, are you under warranty still by xerox?

Xerox 8560 DN. Had power outage then display lit but no text.


Under your printer settings on your PC - if you to to the properties you can view the ports - should give you the IP there , depending on how you have it setup..

some printers have a "Test" button next to the network card.. See if you have one there..

This should resolve that fault code


NOTE: Some Status codes will not clear even though the problem has been fixed. Status codes that will not clear must be manually reset using the 'Fault Reset 14 Procedure'.
  1. Locate the [C] (Clear) button on the Control Panel, at the far right.
  2. Locate the Image Quality button, below the Auto on the Control Panel, toward the left side.
  3. Press the buttons in the following sequence within 4 seconds. Press [C] (Clear), press [Image Quality], press [C] (Clear) again, press [Image Quality] again.
  4. The error code should disappear. If the Status code does not clear, repeat step 3 until the status code clears; but no more than five times.
  5. Use the [10] and [1] buttons to enter 14 on the Display Screen, as if you were to make 14 copies.
  6. Press the [Start] button. The machine should be ready to use.
  7. Make a copy, to check that the machine is working properly
