Question about Canon imageRUNNER 2200
This code means that the waste toner bottle is full and needs to be emptied or replaced. Chances are you don't have a spare waste toner bottle around so emptying it would be a perfectly fine remedy. Just to give you the nifty little details,in a perfect world, when you request a copy the copier does its thing to reproduce the image you wish to make and all the toner required to make that image would be transfered to the paper and everyone is happy. The truth is that no matter how efficient the copier might be, aprroximately 4 to 9% of the image/toner cannot be transferred to the paper and therefore must be cleaned away to prepare for the next image to be clean and free from any previous residual image. This "waste toner" is removed and deposited into a waste toner bottle. In your particular model of Canon copier thewaste toner bottle rests on a platform which has a spring underneath. As the bottle fills it of course weighs more and cause the platform to compress the spring (like a bedspring) and eventually it sags due to weight low enough to trip a sensor that tells the copier to give the error you have which means the bottle is full. Now lets fix it ! :-) It is easy if I can properly convey the procedure. Using the front of the machine as a reference, the panel you need to remove is on the left side of the copier, bottom rear. There is one screw to remove for this panel. Remove the screw, and remove the panel. Buy memory I would say the panel is about 3 inches wide and not quite a foot tall. After the panel is removed you will see what lloks like a funky looking narrow bottle that is like a pitcher. It contains the waste toner. Slide the bottle out carefully unless you like toner everywhere, and emty it into a trashbag. I suggest aquiring a fresh trashbag that you can lower the bottle into and carefully empty the contents.Tie a knot in the bag and then let your concience be your guide as to how and where you dispose of it. Next take a cloth and wipe the top neck of the bottle clean since the copier uses a beam of infra red light to shine thru the bottle to tell if its full. If the neck is clouded the copier will assume the bottle is still full. Replace everything. Now we enter service mode to reset the code. Stand at the operator control panel and then press the "additional functions" button which is between the display and the 9 key pad, then press the numbers 2&8 at the same time then back to additional functions. The is a fluid 3 step prosess. Again......additional functions,then2and 8 , then additional functions. This will bring up a new screen. Pres the "copier " tab. New screen again. You will see alot of stuff now but focus on the tabs across the top. Press function.More **** shows up. Press "clear". More stuff shows up. Press "err".Once it is highlighted press the "ok" button in the lower right hand corner. Now unplug the machine.Wait a few seconds and then plug it back in. You are now officailly fixed. Please take the time to acknowledge the fact I helped you at the "FIXYA" website. Take care and good luck.
