Is the vertical line showing up on every page that print? Since it's a ink jet based printer there isn't much that could cause then other than ink soaked debry in the paper path. Go to the link I pasted below and print a test page, if the line is not present then clean the glass as described below. If the line is present of the test page then clean the entire printer and blow it out with a can of compressed air. If the problem persists then you have an electronic problem and would be more expensive to fix than to replace the printer.

Is it only on pages you scan or copy? Then your scanner glass is dirty, open it up where the paper goes in to scan and clean the glass that you see there. See this at HPs site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00466979&lc=en&cc=ca&lang=en&product=425911&dlc=en

coolguy008, this is an inkjet and not a laser printer, no laser or drum involved.

Hi,

The 2 things I can think of is a dirty laser or a piece of fuzz between the lasr and the drum, just slightly blocking the laser light path and creating that line. If it is in the same area where it was before you replaced the cartridge then that would be my last idea without seeing it.
The other problem would be with a roller having picked up some ink and making that mark until its clean.

The rollers, just open your machine and locate all the rollers visually, Dampen a cloth with some alcohol and wipe them.
The laser would be lined up with the drum, you would see an opening about 1/4 inch wide and maybe 4 or 5 inches wide. Most likely is has a shutter cover on the lens. You would just wipe that with a soft lint free cloth.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution

Hello there.

Even though you have alredy ran teh cleaning cycle, it may take futher attempts before it removes the black line problem. Please try it at least 4-5 more times to see if it improves the print out.

If this doesn't help then most likely the insides of the printer is dirty, using a can of compressed air can help to clear out the insides of any residual mess.

Hope this helps.

Wide black lines down the paper. I have changed

Have you changed the Drum unit. Also there is a cleaning pad that you slide across the corona for cleaning. If you leave it in the middle it will give a black line, should be moved all the way to one side.

Try printing out a report. If the line is still there you need to use the wire cleaner on your print cartridge or if that doesn't work, replace the drum unit.

lift the auto feeder and clean the scanner glass that your pages scan across -it is dirty. You can make a copy afterward and this will tell you if you have solved the problem.

Brother mfc 8860-dn maintenance

if the line is in the same spot it does still sound like there is a piece of dirt still stuck on the clear plastic scanner cover which should be located right on top when you open the machine. it can get dirt stuck to both sides so make sure you are getting the underside too. rub your finger over the top too make sure you feel no grit then clean

Canon L75 Black Vertical Line

the problem is with the cartridge itself and should be cleaned as the toner has dropped on to the roller inside the cartridge and causing the lines. or you could change the cartridge and see if that works.
