Scenario: Recovery manager or Application Recovery on your HP Desktop PC doesn't work or you are unable to access Application Recovery or Recovery manager.

Tip:
For Application Recovery:
1. Click start, my computer.
2. Open C: and Windows Folder.
3. Open SMINST folder within Windows folder.
4. Double click appinst.exe to open application recovery.

For Recovery Manager:
1. Click start, my computer.
2. Open C: and Windows Folder.

If above folder is not found. Then,

What is the parts of computer

Here is the hardware list for the Dell Inspiron 530
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/inspd530/en/om/html/appendix.htm#wp1052310
If you would like to know exactly what is on your system and have access to it, I recommend downloading and installing Speccy. Here's how:
1. Follow this link http://www.piriform.com/speccy 2. Click Download 3. Select Download from FileHippo.com or Download from Piriform.com (either work) 4. Download and install the software 5. Run the program and it will give the exact specifications of your system.

Adobe photo deluxe 2.0 operated fine on XP system. On win7???

The Problem.... is that Windows 7 will not automatically share files with an XP operating systems, even if you are dual booting!.... you need to manually configure your photo software to include that drive in it's library.

It's actually good that Windows acts this way, it's SECURE!.... Windows 7 is by far the most secure version of windows so far... to say the least. believe it or not, you can (Not recommended to the averange end user fyi) run it without any 3rd party PC antivirus software (as long as you are cautious, REALLY know what you are doing, and only visit secure sites, and are updating Windows Defender constantly...)

Good Luck!

If the machine is a Dell with DellControlPoint, open start, run then type msconfig and hit enter. Choose the Startup tab and find the startup item named "Dell" with the Command from "C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell Control Point\Connection Manager\Dell.UCM.exe" and uncheck the box. Hit Ok, then reboot your computer.

Hal.dll error after booting

HAL - Hardware Abstraction Layer (hal.dll)
HAL is Microsoft’s abbreviation for the Hardware Abstraction Layer, the technology and drivers that let the Windows NT, 2000, and XP operating systems communicate with your PC’s hardware. HAL is one of several features–along with the NT file system (NTFS) that replaced the much less secure MS-DOS–that make NT-based operating systems more secure and reliable than Windows 95, 98, and Me.
HAL.dll prevents applications from directly accessing your PC’s system memory, CPU, or hardware devices (such as video and sound cards)–a method that can prevent many device conflicts and crashes. Unfortunately, HAL.dll sometimes also slows or stops DOS games and programs, which need to load their own memory managers or control hardware directly for better performance.
With HAL.dll in the way, developers must rewrite or even abandon their older software in favor of newer, HAL-compatible versions. Microsoft has pressured hardware makers to provide or support technologies such as MMX, DirectX, and 3D graphics language OpenGL, all of which allow fast but indirect access to the advanced high-performance features of video, sound, and CPU hardware. Such access also makes for a better visual experience when using Windows for Web and productivity applications; improved graphics performance is evident all over Windows XP’s new user interface.
XP also offers some new compatibility-mode features that let you run programs meant to run under earlier operating systems, but, frankly, most DOS-based and even some Windows-based games simply won’t work with the new OS.
