Nat port changing - PC Desktops

    Hi,

I just need clarification. Do you have an application that requires a certain port that is being blocked by a firewall? If so what is the name of the application and what firewall are you using?

    Thanks

It sounds like Azureus Vuze, to download "stuff" with :-).
If thats the case, you dont need to open the port in question to solv the NAT problem, as it doesent give any more downloadspeed, just more "****", - so dont....

When less than a quarter feel the need to vote for the effort some of us at FixYou offer, I think to myself, ”is it worth it”.

They get help, and do not care to thank you; “thank you” do not cost a dime, so why????

Where to go to change my nat and where to go

Depends on what router you have:

Linksys:

1) Go to the Security tab, then the Firewall section. Uncheck "Filter Internet NAT Redirection" and click on Save Settings.

2) Go to the Administration tab, then the Management section. Set UPnP to Enable. Click on Save Settings. This will cause your router to cycle, so you may momentarily lose your internet connection.

Retest the network on your Xbox 360 and NAT should be listed as Open.

How to connect Ethernet cable through the pc to the Microsoft Xbox 360 elite Game console for Xbox Live, without buying a separate router ?

You will need a cat5 or cross over cable, plug it into the pc and xbox, if you use vista then it is quite easy, goto the startbar and goto connections, you should now have at least 3 connections.
your connection to the xbox and if you have wireless your wirless connection or wired connection to the internet and a connection with just numbers 14... or somthing like that. Note that xp does not allow wireless and wired connections to be bridged, i dont know if they have changed this through updates, but last time i did this it would not let me. I cant remember the program that does allow you to do this on xp, but as i can remember it is quite hard to do.

You will need to bridge 2 connections, your xbox connection and you internet connection, to do this left click on one of the connections just to highlight it, press control(ctrl) key and hold down, click to highlight the other connection, you should now have 2 connections highlighted, now right click on 1 of them, in the drop down menu you will see a tab saying bridge connections, click on that and it does the rest. After it has finished bridging the connection you should have a new icon in the network connections window, it looks like a bridge. You may need to restart your computer to make the settings take effect.

Now try to connect to live on the xbox, you should be able to connect straight through the computer to internet connection, and also if using vista access your media.

You may have a problem with your NAT type after doing this. Usually it says you have a strict NAT type, you will need to forward ports on your router to enable you to connect properly, do a google search for which ports you need to open in order to remove the strict NAT, you also search on how to forward ports using google, all the information should be there. hope this helps. Post back if you need further assistants.

Yes, you have to search for the TCP and UDP port numbers and open them in the router config not forgeting to bind them to your LAN ip address.

TCP port 6880 is blocked, how do i change for peer connectins

Log onto your router.

Look for the NAT area, and then forward port 6880 to the IP of your computer on the same port. Torrents should get a proper connection after doing this.

Best to set the router to always give the same IP to your computer... which is referred to as a DHCP reservation. That will be somewhere on your router too, and all you'll need is the MAC address of your computers network card. (ipconfig /all in a DOS prompt will give you that information)

Nat problem

first off make sure that you manually allow the port exception on windows. second make sure the exception is added to your router, for example if your computer ip adress is 192.168.1.101 (run ipconfig in command prompt to find out) make sure the port is forwarded (use a number above 40000 and make sure it is not blacklisted). next if your router has uNap settings/NAT translation make sure you add vuze to its programs to monitor list.

I want to open my NAT so i can play xbox live

Okay. If you look at Network connections on Start menu (XP) open network connections...
Then select the on you are connected to... (LAN or WLAN) Click the support tab and you will see something like "192.168.1.1"
Well type that into your browser, if it ask you for a password the default is normaly "admin" or "1234" (No quotes)
Temper with the "Gaming" or "Wireless connections" or "port forwarding"
If that does not work, are you sure you got xbox live gold?
(or hit the reset button on the back of your router)

Im downloading off mininova.org but it comes up with ridiculous times like 2 years to download and it says if the download is slow it could be a NAT problem how can i speed up downloads?

If they are saying there is a NAT problem then the program may be attempting to use a port that needs to be open. Try reading some FAQ's on thier site as to what ports they run on and open those ports for that program.
