Question about MP3 & Digital Media Players
Check the manual. There may be an option to turn the backlight on & off.
You should be able to make out the display trying to view at a different angle.

It's look like a memory issue. Try resetting the player. This can only by removing the battery for a minute and reinserting the battery. If this doesn't help, format the player if it's recognised by the computer and reload some sound tracks. Make sure there are different modes between" audio player" to synchronise music using windows media player and devices with removable storage where you can copy and paste music. I think this mode can be changed byu pressing the "M" button.
