Screen goes black and have to restart

Hi, my Syncmaster 940B will just go black without a reason at different times of usage and the screen will show analog/dialog messages changing every few seconds in the left hand side corner. The power light stays on, but I have to restart my computer to see anything again. Sometimes this will occur every few minuts, other times it will be fine for hours. Thank you for any help I receive.

Looks like you have a DRY SOLDER or COLD solder , if your handy with tools , you have to open monitor and check the PC BOARD, specially where some transformer is located look around that area for some burnt spot , re solder it , and try it again , should be working properly , hope this helps AJ

It is only stays on for 2 seconds then your capacitors are bad. If it is only going out for a few seconds that it is probably auto refreshing.

Shine a flash light onto the monitor, if you can see icons/desktopon the screen then you know you need a new monitor!
You should be covered under warranty!

If the color still works, and it works on other computers, there is something wrong with the computer in question. But this is not the case, so logically, something is wrong with the monitor. Check the cable for broken pins.

I had the same problem with this monitor (Samsung 943nw)
When turned on it would only stay on for less then a full second.
When shining a light on the screen I could see what was on it, so it was just the backlight that was shutting down.

After I turned down the brightness of the monitor, the next time I powered on the screen the backlight stayed lit and it was back to normal.

You may be better off getting a small inverter that convert 12vdc to 120vac @ 100watts or more.

My samsung syncmaster 920nw picuture goes blank after a period of a couple of minutes. If I turn the power off and then back on the picture re-appears but goes off again. It is not he pc since it works...
If you get a flashing screen which show your screen for few minutes and then goes blank it may be an issue with the Monitor.

Try to restart the computer and go to BIOS setup screen. If you experience the same issue in BIOS then the monitor needs a repair or replacement for sure.

If you have a second monitor, you could use your computer until the monitor goes black... then plug in a replacement monitor. My guess is that one will display black too...

My gut feeling is that your VGA card is on the fritz... I'm not convinced it's your monitor. Do you have a replacement VGA card you can try? I'll bet that'll take care of the problem.
