Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and on the address line write: 192.168.1.1
It should then access your router configuration page. It will probably ask you for a password and username, if you never chose one then it will be the default which is "admin" use this for both the username and the password.
Well now you should have access to the router configuration page. I am not sure wether you want to have a password on the wireless signal or the router itself. It is advisable to do it to both so here is what you have to do:
To change the wireless password you click on Wireless -> Wireless Security.
Choose wether you want 64 or 128 bit encryption might as well go for the 128.
It will ask you for your passphrase you insert it and click generate and what it does is give you 4 keys for your password so instead of your normal password you now have a series of numbers and letters and on the bottom it will ask Default TX Key, I normally leave number 1 then click save settings. This means that Key1 is your new wireless password I would write it down on a piece of paper so as not to forget. Next time you try and connect to your wireless connection it will ask for this password twice so very paciently write key1 in both times. It should only ask you once then your computer will remember your wireless with that password.
To change the password of the router itself which again is by default "admin" go to Administration menu and then under the Management section and you have the router password option, just enter the new one and re-enter the new again below and save changes. You should now have your router with the password but note the username is still admin.

Browse to the following link and it gives you all the steps to secure your wireless network. The only thing to remmber is to save all your passwords in file , becasue the next time you add a new wireless device onto your network you would require the same settings
Do let me know if the solution was helpful or fixed the problem by rating the same .
