I had the exact same problem... My Mac laptop g4 is 3 years old and I love it. But all of a sudden - I was just browsing the internet - the creen went black. It is as if the creen just died. But my keyboard still lights up (caps lock, volume and such) and I can hear the motor of the computer and the Turn On-Off sound when i push the poer button. Any ideas of what went wrong and how i can fix if it is just the screen ? thanks

Thinking about this one I really think the video had nothing to do with the black screen. I would try to things one is reset the power management. Not know exactly what Powerbook you have I will give the most common way. Remove the Battery and the power cord from the powerbook, wait a few minutes then hold the power button for about 40 seconds. Then put the battery and power cord back in and restart it. The second thing to do is boot from the install disk that came with it and run the disk utility. I have also seen bad RAM do this but you would get at least a chime on startup.

Hi my daughter used the mac last night same as usual. When i started it up this morning i only have screen saver plus mouse pointing device showing!!! Normal shutdown procedure was followed. thanks in...

I'd guess that it went into sleep mode rather than shutdown. Sometimes the screensaver can only be woken up by tapping the space bar..
If that doesn't do it, hold the power button down for 10 secs and this will force-shut the machine, then boot up as normal.

Twist the Macbook body while turning it on. If that make the image come back, you have a broken logic board. There are Mac Repair Guides that show how to open a Macbook. Watch out for the ribbon cables, those tear easily. Replacement parts are usually available on Ebay. There are third party services that can do it for you, like Mac Repair NYC.
