Hello,

The protocol is actually the portion of the URL before the www - in your case the http:// which indicates that the page you are trying to access can be accessed using the hypertext transfer protocol. Other protocols include FTP (file transfer protocol), or https:// which is Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layers.

The www portion of the website can be controled by the site operator - in your case the operator may have used ww2 or ww3 to load balance traffic or to divide up different sections or versions of the website.

Hope that helps!

I use Firefox for all my browsing, yet when I ran CCleaner it cleared almost 30MB of temporay internet explorer files. I have not used internet explorer for over a year. I was wondering if anyone could...

Hi,

These files are called cache files.
They are created everytime you visit a website.
These files are saved as a history so that you can find websites you have visited and so that the entire page does not have to load all over again when you revisit a website in the history.
You can see your history by pressing CTRL+H in firefox.

Hope this explains your question!

I am unable to open the website www.sify.com on my computer using ie or chrome, what is the issue? response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

May be a problem with the DNS on your computer.
Try this:

click start>control panel >network connection >right click local area connection >click properties >highlight internet protocol (TCP/IP) > and make sure that the radio buttons are on obtain automatically.

if you still have the problem, it may be with the router.
