Gaming on a macbook pro

While playing Call of Duty Deluxe Edition on my macbook pro (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 2GB memory, GeForce 8600M GT. ) the game refuses to go past level two. It starts to load the next level but stops and displays the error message " maximum number of disconnected pathways exceeded." The only option given is to quit. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it as I'm really enjoying the game so far!
Cheers Chris

G'day SkinWill and thanks for your interest. The exact sequence of events is as follows : finish level 2, click on " next level ", next level starts to load with the screen displaying the background blurb intro, the load progress bar at the bottom of the screen gets about a third of the way across , the error message overlay then comes on with the message " Max number of disconnected paths exceeded". The only option given is a "quit" button. The CD is new and completely unmarked. Hope you can help.
    Cheers Chris

Have you tried reloading the game at all?

And you have all the updates for the game correct?

found this on another website, it should help

He said that the error which I was encountering was basically just a
carry-over from the PC version of the game, and it was never caught.
(Although I don't know how, as it happens pretty early in the game) At
any rate, the only way to get past the error is to use "console
commands" to manually trigger the next map. Yes, you will miss out on
the 1 map that has the error, but it's better than not being able to
play the rest of the game.

First, ensure Console is enabled (it's a checkbox in one of the
sub-menus under "Options"). Once console is enabled, hit the "~" key to
bring up the console. The map that has the error is called "Dawnville",
so you will want to manually skip to the next one - "Car Ride."

In the console, type "map carride" (except without the quotation marks)
and that should take you to the next level! Additionally, here are all
the levels in the game (by map name)

    Training

    Pathfinder

    Burnville

    Dawnville

    Car Ride

    Brecourt

    Chateau

    POW Camp

    Pegasus Night

    Pegasus Day

    Dam

    Truck Ride

    Airfield

    Ship

    Stalingrad

    Red Square

    Train Station

    Sewer

    Pavlov

    Factory

    Rail Yard

    Tank Drive Country

    Tand Drive Town

    Hurtgen

    Rocket

    Berlin

Hope this helps anyone who, in the future, might experience the same
problem as I! For a list of all other console commands (i.e., cheats),
and what they do, just Google "Call of Duty Console Commands."

which call of Duty is it, the newest one? Your graphics card may not be good enough, try turning all settings down as low as they can go if the above doesn't work.

Chris.

are you absolutely certain you are working with an authentic version of that game? It could be that you have an 'off brand' version, no?

Odd, that it would get that far at all and then error out.
is it the SAME spot every time? it could be that it is trying to spawn a movie sequence or something and erroring out initing the player or on the sound allocation.
Are you sure that is the EXACT error message? Please check that for me.
Also check that your game media is clean and free of scratches.

SOURCE: can i place a 4g and 2g stick in my macbook pro

Hello! The MacBook Pro you have mentioned can only support 4GB's total. 2GB's in the first slot, and 2GB's on the second slot.

What you may have seen by accident was that you can purchase either a 4GB kit, or a 2GB kit. Meaning a 4GB kit with 2 2GB sticks, or a 2GB kit with 2 1GB sticks.

Your best bet is to go with a 2GB stick in each slot to max out your MacBook Pro. 2GB's is the largest each slot can read.

For more information, check out the website below which has very detailed information on memory for various systems.

upgrade your CD/DVD firmware from MAC website and install it.
if it does same even upgrading driver then most could be problem in optical lens so better taking back in the same place where you bought it from if its still under warranty.

or if its out of warranty then you need to take to Tech so they can fix it for you.

please post back if anything changes and rate all answers.

This sounds like a problem with your accessories than a problem with your Mac. Did you try using a different pair of speakers or headphones? The jack could also be loose.

If your Entourage database is rather large, it would definitely slow down your laptop. I'd highly recommend moving to the maximum RAM your laptop can take, even if your particular laptop can only take 2GB. Can you tell me the processor speed and model (e.g., 2GHz Core Duo or 2.16ghz Core 2 Duo)?

MacBook Pro 15'' RAM Problems

The earliest MacBook (Pro) models have a limit of 2 GB. To check the specific model, in the Apple menu select about this Mac. Then press more info... . Look at the line like "Model Identifier: MacBook5,2" for my white early 2009 MacBook. If the numbers are 1,1 then for sure you have the oldest model and are memory limited to 2 GB, as the sum of both cards.
That's just like my wife's, it was a Core Duo and not the current Core 2 Duo. Works fine. I was ready to up its memory but read about this in the Apple Support Forum. It came originally with 1 stick of 512 MB, IIRC. I upgraded it to 2x1 GB for a lot more than the 2x2 GB in the newer. BTW some of the Macs between these only take 3 GB but will work with 2x2 GB just throwing 1 GB away. -Ken

I have connected my macbook to my tv using mini

Later MacBook (Pro) use a mini-DVI connector that does not pass analog needed for composite or S-video. Was yours ever working? And most DVI connectors do not pass sound as seen by your cabling. You cannot detect display through RCA. You just set it in Sys Prefs :: Displays, try some other settings, although your seem right.
I have a white early-2009 MacBook and mini-DVI to HDMI adapter (monoprice <$10) and HDMI cable and have not connected the TOS-link for sound, yet--just slideshows at 1920x1080. You will get a much better picture digitally. -Ken
