American Mega Trends is the BIOS. You need to insert your Microsoft Windows CD or CD/DVD of your chosen Operating System (Solaris, Linux, Windows etc) and restart your PC. If Windows is on there already, then inserting the CD/DVD and restarting should give you the opportunity to repair you OS/Windows installation. Good Luck.

Kind Regards,

Laurie

That is the boot image that is displayed over the POST test. when an error is detected on boot it is supposed to clear that image and display the problem it found.
If it does not clear on its own you can try pressing ESC and post here what it says.
if nothing happens at all pressing any key, then it is most likely found a problem that locked it up tight, such problems can be the CPU or a motherboard controller. Problems like that dont get much worse and can involve replacement of the motherboard, not for the faint of heart and quite expensive.
Let me know if ESC does anything or if there is any other text on the screen AT ALL.
Good Luck.

I have an hp pavilion computer it turns on fine but my monitor is not displaying anything

Before you turn the power onto the computer make sure you have the monitor on. When you power the computer up you should see a very quick flash as the computer boots up. If you don't your monitor is either bad or your video card. Make sure the monitor is plugged in tightly into the adapter that it fits into.

My HP Pavilion a 1600n wont let me long on goes to a black page tells me to press "r" for recovery i have no HP Pavilion a 1600n installation disc

k when the computer first boots up hit f8 or shift f8 to get to advance options . move arrows to last known good configuration. if that fails to get you on desk top you will most likely need to call hp and get replacement disks to reinstall the missing or currupted drivers. your NTloader is not reading from your master boot record that is why your getting this.

Laptop is not able to open windows. mine is HP pavilion dv4000 p/n is EP360 UA#ABA- dv4320us

If the laptop boots up press F10 when F10 is displayed on the lower left of display and ensure that the hard drive is selected for first boot. If Windows still doesn,t boot then put the system restore cd/Windows cd in and boot from that.  If the display has nothing make sure that the brightness is not turned down or connect an external monitor. At this point repost to get more info.

This error message may appear when the computer BIOS is set to boot from a network and cannot find a bootable operating system on the network or on any of the storage devices included in the notebook PC's boot path.

The following steps are for most HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario Notebook PCs. The boot order can be configured on the Advanced tab in the BIOS settings menu. The steps to modify the boot order may vary depending on the model of your computer. On most HP notebooks the boot order can be configured using the following steps:
  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu. NOTE: Some notebook PCs use the F2 or F6 key.
  3. Use the right and left arrow keys to select the Advanced tab.
  4. Use the up and down arrow keys to select Boot Order .
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the boot order.
Reset the boot order to the default settings Use the following steps to reset the boot order to the default settings:
  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.
  3. Press the F9 key to reset the BIOS to default settings.
  4. Press the F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS settings menu.

I think it will you to fix your problem.
If still have problem then tell me more about it.

Thanks
Iqbal
