Question about Runco CL-510LT Multimedia Projector
I have a bit of knowledge that might help. First of all is there any light or sound coming from the projector? If not, your projector is not getting power so change the remote batteries(if good then power supply is dead.) If it does make a sound like a fan, or clicking, then check the lamp. The lamp will have a frost on it or the center conductor in the lamp will be separated, then it's dead. If you know the lamp hours are around 700hrs.(check the manual how) or so it might be covered under warranty from the lamp manufacturer. If the lamp is fine and gets power but no picture then it probably will require repair.

I have a great deal of experience with that projector in particular.
The burning smell along with the circle on the screen can be one of two thing in the same general area. Both are not good.
The lamp assembly has its own dedicated cooling fans. these fans can sometimes **** in dust and insects. the lamp runs at a very high temperature and can burn those things quickly. I have often found old lamps with particles fused to the glass.
The other situation is that the lamp burned something and it got stuck to the glass somewhere in the light path.
if I remember right the projector monitors the temprature of the bulb and will shutdown if it gets too hot.
Runco is based in california and has a great turn around time on projectors. Unfortunately with Runco you would be hard pressed to find a technician that wouldn't just send it to them for repairs anyways. The major down side with Runco is that customers cannot talk directly to engineers or service men.
Locate a Runco authorized retailer in your area, check runcoes site. and give them a call to see if they cant send it to runco for you. if you cannot find one in your area call Roscor or Blair & Associates in Chicago.
