Ice Maker Won't Drop Ice

I have a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator with a new ice maker. The ice maker works fine but will not drop the ice. If I cycle the arm off/on (up/down) then it dumps the ice a few minutes later. Otherwise, the ice just sits in the tray. The ice maker is Whirlpool #4317943. Any suggestions on why it won't drop the ice or what to test?

Installed a replacement unit. Now this unit won't fill with water. There are no blockages in the feed tube. Any thoughts? Thanks

i have the same problem only in reverse. i had a cube stuck and the icemake stayed running. after removing the cube it no longer would fill with water. the module was burned out. i replaced the icemake, it filled, froze, dropped the cubes, filled, froze, and will not drop ay more cubes. i removed it 5 times and thawed and it does the same thing eveytime. it only drops the 1st set of cubes. the lights stays solid not blocked but goes out when the freeze light goes off.

SOURCE: I have a Whirlpool side

Humm thats a good one, but I will try to help you out. First off you say the icemaker is new, so does that mean you bought the icemaker and installed it on the refrigerator. Or is the refrigerator new and it has an icemaker. If you installed the icemaker new on an older refrigerator you can have a few problems. Most likely the freezer is not getting cold enough for the icemaker to cycle on its own. Especially if you are peaking in every few minutes like I would be doing. The icemaker will start a new cycle when the temperatur hits 0 degrees. If the freezer is only getting to 5 degrees the icemaker will not cycle. In that case the problem would be with the refrigerator not the icemaker. If the freezer is getting to 0 degrees then you may want to take that icemaker back and get a replacement. Good luck and I hope I helped. mca0824@aol.com

Ice maker not making ice in whirlpool model #wrx735sdbm00

Check the Ice Maker itself (not the bowl). Is there ice cubes stuck in there? If so, that means that the ice is stuck and the the "pusher" doesn't have enough force to drop them into the bowl.

Icemaker has ice in icemaker, but does not drop it and refill to make new ice. What do I do?

Check the coils under the refrig , to make sure they are clean . If not clean , then please clean , and wait about a day . If still no ice , replace the ice maker . An ice maker will not harvest ( dump ) , unless it is 5 degrees . Dirty coils will make a freezer temp anywhere from 10 - 18 degrees , yet food will still be frozen , but ice maker will not work .

Ice Maker not working

Get me the model number. Put tap water in ice maker tray and make sure arm is down. Let it freeze. Wait and see if the ice will drop, this should allow water to come into the ice maker for another run. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze
