Suddenly when I plug my Blackberry 7100r either to the wall or to the USB port, it shows charging for 2 seconds and then it stops charging, what could this be/

I have the same problem sometimes with my phone, try taking out the battery and if it is for cingular take out the sim card and or memory cards you have, if you haven't done this, then do it. When you put the battery and sim card and memory card back in, it should turn on and work fine.

If this doesn't fix it I have no solution/

I am experiencing a similar problem with my Pearl. It seems that charging over USB to my computer is fine. But if I use the power adapter they supplied with the blackberry it will only recognise the charge for about 3 seconds then disappear.

I know it cant be the battery because I have tried it in a colleagues phone and it works and charges fine. Is there any issue when changing your device to enable mass storage setting when connecting to the PC as this might affect power management???

    any suggestions welcome.

Sure sounds like a problem with your charging outlet. I recommend taking it to your service provider and having a technician run some tests only they can do.

Please let me know if this helps. Take care!

Not unless you have the tools required. That's why its important you take it to a tech and get it done properly.

Chances are either the battery is fried. or the OS is nuked.

Take the battery out, plug the phone in and try to turn it on. If it powers on just fine, it's the battery. If not. The OS is nuked and needs to be replaced.

By blackberry flip turned off in the middle of a call and I have not been able to to turn it on since. I changed the battery and that did not work. Any ideas?

it may be that battery is faulty, and is not charging.

A standard cellphone battery can support a charge from near empty to full about 300-500 times. after that, the charge is not 'filling' the battery, and it is drained quicker.

You can test the ability of the battery to hold a charge.

1. Plug the cell phone into its charger and plug the other end in to an electrical outlet. Allow the battery charge to full capacity.

2. Press and hold the power button on the cell phone to turn it off. Let the phone power down and remove the back cover to access the battery.

3. Remove the battery and observe the label for the voltage. Most cell phone batteries are 3.4 to 4.5 volts.

4. Turn on a multimeter. A multimeter tests current flow in voltage and amps and also resistance in a circuit. Place the black test probe on the negative battery contact and the red test probe on the positive battery contact. The contacts are on the edge or bottom of the battery and should be marked negative (-) and positive (+).

5. Place one test probe on the left terminal and one on the right, if the battery terminals are not marked. These are usually the correct terminals and the meter will show a positive reading. If the meter shows a negative reading, move the left or right probe to the middle terminal until one pair shows a positive reading.

6. Read the display on the multimeter. The voltage should be the same or a little higher than the battery label due to the fact that batteries hold an additional charge above the full charge mark when they have just been charged.

You can go to your local mobile store, and ask them to try another battery in your phone. if it works, great, you just need a new battery.
If not, well, the phone might have water damage, could have a circuit shorted out or something unusual. eitherway, if the phone doesnt turn on, you need to take it to the vendor, who has resources to test the equipment.

make a friend with someone who also has a Blackberry 8220, maybe you can try their battery for free, and if they arent looking, pull a switcheroo!

Blackberry curve wont turn on. it died then i took it home and went to charge it and the red light comes on for about 2 seconds then nothing happens and i cant turn it on

Does the phone come on while plugged in? To me it seems that the battery is dead. If you feel the battery is fine then you must visit the BB Service Center.

Battery won't charge in phone.

Have you tried a different charger? If not I would suggest stopping by one of your cellular providers stores and having them plug it in to see if it works.

Screen shows battery with a red line through it

This usually means the bb and battery got a little wet or has other issues. Try these solutions in order. They go from easisest to hardest. NOTE: If you have an insurance policy on the bb probably best just to take it in.

1. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery and the SIM card. Wait 30 seconds. Replace SIM, battery and back cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

2. If that doesn't work, allow the bb to remain unplugged but ON for about 24 hours to drain the battery. Remove back cover and battery. Allow battery and opened bb to sit in a dry environment for 24 - 36 hours. Relace battery and cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

3. If that fails retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again.

4. Take in.
