i did check that too. i reset the camera to manufacture's settings and nothing helps. what i want to do is try cleaning it maybe is working like that because i have not use it in a long time but i have have difficulties finding the cleaning tapes. do you think i would ruin the camcorder if i clean it with pressure air?

Hello janice,
Have you tried the Reset Button of camera located in LCD portion? Push that switch/ button with ball-pen and I hope problem will be solved.

How do I get the sony handycam dcr-hc30ntsc to show me a pictuer wale recording or any thing

If camcorder does not show live view in view finder and lcd screen but shows good picture in play back of old recorded tapes then ccd imager chip is defective in camcorder and need to be replaced.
It is not user level repair as soldering work is needed to replace ccd imager chip.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

No display in viewfinder and LCD

i think you are able too see the video in play back mode. so there is no problem in your LCD.
i think the CCD has got damaged in your CAM. that is why you are not able to view anything in shooting mode.
because CCD is the layer which converts the light falling on it to a electrical signal and shows us as a complete image.

My camcorder whon't record image only sound?

Hi,
If camcorder does not show live view in camera mode then most probably its ccd imager chip failure problem that part need to be replaced to get live image in lcd/ view finder to get it record on tape.
Let me know exact model number of your camcorder to provide you more info.
Thanks.

My canon camcorder show a blur image on record but clear on vcr

That would be your image processor on your lcd panel that is gone wackey, would have you take it in and have the cam looked at.

Everthing seems to work, except the camera will not record.

Assume you have Sony DCR-HC20 camcorder and it does not show you live view to record, I hope camcorder is playing back old recorded tapes perfectly with good quality picture on its LCD.
If it is true then your camcorder has ccd imager chip failure and ccd imager needs to be replace to get live view in LCD monitor.
Qualified camera tech will replace ccd imager chip.
Thanks.

My dsr pd170 lcd view screen is viewing in negative imaging. it seems to be filming fine, but the image quality slowly degrades while filming. Since we work at a camp and film things like talent shows...

dear
first tell me when u close the lcd pannel , then is the view finder working fine , if not then
view finder cable is broken . u cant fix it your self as u need to open the camcorder .you must not be having the proper tools for that.
and regarding the lcd part , if the display is fine for a while ..and then
while using it it goes fade , shows grey colour or lines in it . then its lcd problem ...ur lcd need to be replaced .
