I am not receiving some emails. Also, the emails I send are not being received. I have a pop up that says my server has terminated my service. I was told that I did not have to do anything with a new server and I did not have to change my email address. I had verizon , but switched to optimum on March 18, 2008. Angela Rossi

Angela,

Ring your ISP and have them run through support with you. They can diagnose more effectively the issue and see if yopu can get online at all.
It may be the case that you need to use another email client (outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail if you have Vista, or even Mozilla Thunderbird or SeaMonkey. Both of the last 2 are Open Source which means they are free to download and use).

Kind Regards,

Laurie

How fast is my message going through the internet.when I hit send?

depends on a lot of things.
what defines message - an email ?
a chat program ?

speed of each hop through the internet
how many hops are needed to get to destination pop or imap server ?
speed of the mail server how many other people are sending messages through the SMTP sending email server to send else where .?
Speed of the POP destination server and how many people are receiving emails at the same time ?
Amount of internet traffic going through each hop at the time you send your message.
Depends on if a fishing trawler has ripped up the internet cable under the sea with its anchor at the time you are sending ?
Depends on also if a hacker has created a derail of service attack on the email server at the time you are sending your email ?

Depends on if receiving computer is polling the pop or imap server as well looking for new messages.

Could take 30 seconds to 30 minutes or 2 days if a fault has occurred.

Cannot send email but I can receive email. What is the problem? Yahoo email

Hello, ''Wanda'' sorry, for your problem. If you're able to receive but unable to send mail using your POP mail client (such as Outlook), please review the possible troubleareas below. SMTP Server In the fight against unsolicited commercial email (spam), some Internet service providers require their subscribers to send mail through the ISP's own SMTP servers. If you experience problems sending email, please contact your ISP to determine if it requires different SMTP server settings. Youwill need to use the ISP's SMTP server in place of Yahoo!'s SMTP server when configuring your POP mail client. The following is a partial list of ISPs that require you to use their SMTP servers. If your ISP is among them, try replacing the Yahoo! SMTP server with the ISP server in your POP mail client settings, or consult the ISP's help files. If your ISP does not appear in the list below, please contact your ISP directly for more information. Thanks

I CANNOT OPEN OR SEND EMAILS

  1. Cannot send email but able to receive
Typically, POP based email accounts have the same address for incoming and outgoing email servers. However, sometimes the email service provider might have a different outgoing email server which has a different username and password (next point). Please check with your provider for details if you cannot send email but can receive. Is the outgoing email server address correct?
The outgoing email server (SMTP) address needs to be correct for you to send messages from the account. You can find this information in the email you have received from your web host.

The outgoing email server address would typically be based on your web site's address, unless the server has been configured differently. Thus, if your web site's URL is www.my-web-site.com, the outgoing email server address would be either my-web-site.com or mail.my-web-site.com (substitute my-web-site.com with your actual domain name).

Trying To set up yahoo mail in my HTC phone need details

Hi,

You will need adjust the mail application's POP settings to get your Yahoo! Mail messages into it.

POP access is a service for owners of one of the following:

Yahoo! Mail Pop Access & Forwarding

Yahoo! Mail
Plus Premium Services
A Broadband account
A Small Business account

Please note that access to IMAP servers is not available.

To use an email client or application to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages, you may need to designate a new incoming (POP) mail server and a new outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Consult your owner's manual for instructions on designating servers in the email application.

If you can't add new POP or
SMTP servers, you will need to change your current server settings.

Before you make any changes, write down your current settings. You might need to revert to your original settings later if you decide to send and receive messages from your other email addresses.

The following steps will help you find the POP settings for your Yahoo! Mail account and configure it:

Log onto your Yahoo! Mail account from a PC.

Click Options > Mail Options.
Click POP & Forwarding.
Click Set up or edit POP & Forwarding.
Click POP Settings.

Note your Server Setting information. Your phone email client or application will ask for these settings:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3)- for example, pop.mail.yahoo.com.

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)- for example, smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
Account Name/Username, your Yahoo! Member ID- for example, myuserID.
Email address, your Yahoo! Mail address- for example, [email protected].
Password, your Yahoo! Mail password- for example, l0ngitudin*l

Notes:

POP server settings may change from time to time and you should confirm the current POP server settings in Yahoo! Mail if it is not working.

When using
Microsoft Outlook, replace the "@" in your address with "%".

As an alternative to configuring Yahoo! Mail POP mail configurations, go to:

http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mobile/...

Enter your phone number and send a link to your phone; the best Yahoo! Mail experience will be suggested to you.

Cannot connect to subscriber in China

Typically this error indicates that you are trying to send your Adhost email through Adhost’s mail server when you have not authenticated your email account to send mail. Our mail server authenticates you through your pop account. So when you check your email, our mail server authenticates your pop user and password, captures that IP that you are checking your email from, and adds that IP to our relay list. This list is flushed every 70 minutes. This means, if you try to send email after the relay list has been flushed and before you’ve attempted to check your email, you will receive this error.

How to fix the problem:

Fix #1 - reauthenticate on our server.

Remove any email from your Outbox. If you need to keep the message, you can move it to your 'Drafts' folder.
Click "Send/Receive". This will reauthenticate you.
Try resending the email.
Fix #2 - configure your email client to check for email before sending.

In Outlook, go to "Tools" and select "Email Accounts". Make sure "View or change existing e-mail accounts" is checked. Click Next.
Select your account from the list and click "Change".
Select "More Settings".
Select "Outgoing Server".
Check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
Select "Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail".
Click "OK", then "Next", then "Finish".

This will fix your problem

Unable to receive mail in Entourage from POP server.

Not really sure what is wrong but would suggest that you check your account setup under tools/Accounts and see if the setting for advanced settings for receive is set to "This POP service requires a secure connection" is checked or not. It depends on what your ISP requires
