Question about Panasonic PT-43LC14 43" Rear Projection HDTV

Open Question

Brightness Hi. I recently saw your post on this site regarding the lack of brightness on your Panasonic 43LC14. I am having the same exact problem right now. For the last month or so the picture has gotten increasingly darker and darker. I thought it was the lamp gradually dying. This past weekend the lamp finally blew for good and the TV went off and would not power on and the lamp indicator light was on. I ordered a lamp online (but not from Panasonic) and installed it easily myself using the directions in the manual. I got the picture back, but its still very very dark. It is so frustrating! I thought it might be the cable signal but DVD's and direct cable pictures are also dark. Did you ever solve this same problem? If so, may I ask how? I really hope I don't have to call a TV technician. Thanks for your help.

SOURCE: Picture has gotten darker

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

SOURCE: Screen Brightness

Your ballast may not be up to 100% of its rated capabilities, thats often the cause when the brightness level gets to unwatchable levels. You may need to troubleshoot the ballast voltages a defective ballast can usually cause a lamp to loose about 60 % of its brightness levels. The other possibility could be the DLP mirrors need polishing but that is something better left to a repair shop as the DLP mirrors are sensitive

On the Panasonic Toughbook CF30 you can change
the Brightness UP by pressing FN + F2 keys
simultaneously to increase brightness and to decrease it
hold FN and press F1 to lower brightness.
This assumes that you have the HOTKEY driver loaded
first, which enables these function keys.
Good Luck!

My monitor lacks brightness. How to adjust its

Hi

Thank you for your query

Please try the following

1) To ensure maximum brightness, please make sure your charger is plugged in

2) Press the fn key and the up arrow key or the right arrow key (or the key with a sun symbol on there)

If the above 2 fail and your brightness doesnt increase then this will indicate that your screen inverter may be faulty and will need replacing

If this is the case please book laptop into a reputable PC shop for replacement

My picture is dark and have changed the brightness

This model is notorious for needing a new lamp about every 2 years. The lamp is accessed through the front by removing the long plastic cover under the screen (it just pulls off). Under that, to the left of center, is a square cover with one grey plastic screw. Loosen the screw and pull the lamp assembly out. It should just slide right out. Turn it around and look at the lamp. If the lamp face or reflector looks "cloudy" or "misty". Replace the lamp with Philips part number TY-LA1000. Just Google the number and you will find them available for around $100

Brightness Problem

Hi,

Since focus adjustment using the flyback rear controls (EHT) has no effect, then it could possible mean two things:
  • the EHT is defective (most likely) at least the controls; or
  • the picture tube is already weak.
A workaround is to replace the filter capacitor of the ~70V leading to the collector voltage of the 3 color drive transistor. Normally used to replace with is 100uF/160V.

Of course best would be to have the EHT checked/replaced.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

What lamp did you replace it with? Some of the aftermarket bulb sources are not the original brand and do not work as well.
