Since you upgraded, it's possible you are still using the Vista sound drivers. I would suggest you visit the Toshiba website and look for the support menu item for your particular computer. Then find the sound drivers for Win 7. Sorry,your sound card driver for windows 7 is not release by tosiba company.Even if they have release driver for Windows Vista too.It might have work.
So you won't be able to play audio sound on your laptop using windows 7.Either you need to downgrade to Windows XP or windows 2000 or you may get a new USB external sound card which support windows 7.

it's being quite a long time since i solved my problem, so don't remember the details.
but I remember to have downloaded the drivers from Toshiba's site, filtering with the exact notebook model and XP drivers.
