AOSmith 1hp lift motor starts then trips breaker , any ideas?, thants

There are a few possible reasons why your AOSmith 1hp lift motor starts and then trips the breaker:
  1. Overload: The motor may be overloaded and drawing too much current. Check the load on the motor and make sure it is within the motor's capacity.
  2. Short Circuit: A short circuit could be causing the motor to draw too much current and trip the breaker. Check the wiring for any signs of damage or wear.
  3. Faulty Motor: The motor itself could be faulty and causing the overload or short circuit. Check the motor windings for any signs of damage or wear.
  4. Tripped Thermal Overload: The motor may have a thermal overload switch that shuts off the motor if it gets too hot. Check the motor for any signs of overheating and reset the thermal overload switch if necessary.
  5. Faulty Breaker: The breaker itself could be faulty and tripping prematurely. Check the breaker for any signs of wear or damage.
It is recommended to consult a licensed electrician or motor technician to diagnose and fix the issue, as working with electricity can be dangerous if not done properly.

Whirlpool dryer will not start the start buttton click when pressed and the timer works if i have the door open and press the start button there is no click so i figured it was not the door swich ...

The first thing to check on a electric dryer is the power.

I know It look like you have power but you have a 220V dryer and it need both sides of power to work.

If you can't ckeck for proper power at the outlet then please at least ckeck your breaker box and maker sure you turn both switches off and then back on to make sure that one site of the breaker did not trip. Then check your dryer to see if this did not solve your problem. ((((( I flip a breaker at least once a month for a customer and recive $60.00 for doing so :) ))))))

Ok if this did not solve your problem.

When you push the button for start do you here a hum noise ??? if so Most common problem would be the motor.

No hum.... Open dryer door and turn drum by hand and close door and retry dryer.

No Hum....

Now it get real fun !!! The start switch needs to be checked, Then the Thermal Fuse and the High limit thermostat.

In most cases this is going to be forign to you and you should call a tech for service.

20 amp Circuit breaker trips everytime I flip the motor switch on. Its a craftsman table saw motor 1HP Model 113-12070., 14/7 amps

I assume that you are using the motor on 115 volt service. Remove the drive belt and check for excess friction in either the saw arbor bearings or the motor bearings. If both seem free to turn, then suspect that the start capacitor on the motor has failed. They usually become open circuited which prevents the start rotation. It will just sit there and hum loudly until the breaker pops. You may also have a defective 20 amp breaker--you will need a clamp-on AC ammeter to verify. Suggest that you run the saw on 230 volt service when you get it running. You will be amazed at the acceleration and apparent power available. My table and radial arm saws are both set for 230 volt operation and love it. Go to: Searspartsdirect.com and enter the complete model number minus the decimal point. This will take you to a series of drawings that list all replaceable parts. Hope this helps!

Need a point setting for ao smith air compressor ac motor model number opa-0297 s# c56b72b2316508j2 work on air machine with motor installed motor will hum and trip breaker can we set points to stop trip...

There is not a point setting for air compressors. The pressure switch can be adjusted. Remove the cover from the pressure switch. Adjust the nut tighter for a higher cut off pressure or looser for a lower cut off pressure. It sounds like the compressor is trying tostart under load. If the unloader valve is not working, the compressor will draw excess amperage and do what you describe. The unloader valve releases the pressure in the cylinder at the end of the run cycle so the compressor can start the next run cycle under no load.

try running up this motor when its not installed on the compressor,, if it still blows the trips the motor is faulty,, if it runs ok, but hums when reconted to the compressor the compressor if far to tight for the motor to turn the compressor,,,you can not reset the points in a breaker trip they trip at a set curent if the motor is pulling more amps than the trip is set for it will trip the trip to turn off the curent, the motor will pull far more amps than it should if its over loaded thats why its humming its trying to spin up it but cant so it just keeps pulling more and more amps till the trip cuts out
