There are two possible reasons for an error ink absorber full. First, is the ink absorber pads is actually full of waste ink and needs cleaning. The second is to reset the printer to clear the error and let the printer print again.

Clean the two absorber pads
. Its is actually two absorber pads located on the right side of the printer, under the ink cartridges when it is in home base position.
How to access the pads and remove it for cleaning?
Turn on the printer. Lift the top cover to expose the ink cartridges. As soon as you lift up the cover the cartridge carrier will move away from its home base.. Then the pads will be exposed. It will be a dirty job so be prepared with your tweezer and extra cloth for some ink spill. Using the tweezer, lift up the pads sitting on a rubber retainer. The pads can be easily clean by placing it under a running water. Warm water will be nice to remove the ink from the pads. After this, you can now return the pads. However, the problem will not be solve especially if you are currently facing the waste ink absorber full error.

Reset the Printer using an MP Tool
Mp Tools are utilities designed to clear errors that will appear in an MP150 printer. Download this MP Tools here.
while the printer is on Run this software
1. Click Reset Main (main) to reset the waste ink counter and
2.
Click Reset Platen button (E27).

If errors still persist.
Press and Hold down Reset button and wait until the printer restart.
Release the Reset button and wait until it fully initialize.

Happy printing.

Canon i9900 - keep getting message - ink absorber almost full. Where is it - how do I get at it and what do I have to do. Also one end of sponge strip has come loose - how to I get at it to put it back...

The ink absorbers are white pads. they reside at the bottom of the printer. The entire chassis needs to be removed and new pads fitted. Then the software needs to be reset to remove the message and return its counters to zero. The black sponge is also replaced at the same time. To get to the right end (i presume thats whats your referring to) just start the printer so you hear the carriage move and plull out the mains plug. Now the carriage is unlocked and you can move it easily. Just push the sponge back down, it should stay in place. The job is best left to a canon specialist as the chassis removal is a bit of a job. Good luck.

How to fix my printer? it has message that the ink absorber is almost full

Not all the ink that leaves the ink-cartridges gets sprayed onto the paper. Some of the ink is "wasted", and ends-up in the absorber (a small sponge inside a small garbage-can).

A computer-technician can empty the absorber (or replace it), and reset the "counters" inside the printer, to tell the printer that the new absorber now is only 0% "full".

"ink absorber is almost full, contact service center" - what does this mean?

Inkjet printer has waste ink absorber inside, sponge alike. The function of waste ink absorber is to localize and keep waste ink safe inside the printer and does not harm the electrical parts.
Waste ink is produced from print head cleaning process and borderless printing. When capacity of the ink absorber raise to about 90% then warning message appears.
You need to bring your printer to the nearest service center to get waste ink absorber replaced.

MP 610 is leaving black ink streaks the length of the page on back of paper. I have used the printer maintenance to clean the rollers, ink head etc several times and have installed a new black ink...

That sounds like the ink is coming off the waste ink absorbers. Try blotting the excess ink off the bottom of the printer with paper towels. The ink absorbers are small pads at the bottom of the paper feed path. With work, you can pull them pads and rinse them clean and then reinstall them when dry. Unfortunately, this can take almost disassembling the printer. Simply absorbing some of the excess is a temporary step.

I hope this helps.

(there is a counter that indicates when (based on average use) the waste ink absorber is full. The printer will stop working when that number is reached. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a reset for this model that actually works.)

Message" waste ink absorber"

There is an absorbent sponge in the bottom of your waste ink container to help contain the waste ink your printer generates when it cleans the print head nozzles. That sponge is probably full and has triggered a "most informative" error message!

Check your user's manual about the procedure for changing the absorber and where to buy new ones.

My waste ink absorber is full. What does this mean and what do I do about it?

The waste ink absorber is a sponge that collects and holds superfluous ink after a cleaning of the ink nozles.

Unfortunately the printer will stop printing when this error occurs.
Canon service is needed to have the absorber replaced.

Help with absorber

Someone else asked same question on this site and got answer:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t198707-ink_waste

I also had that message. This seemed to work to clear the message and let you carry on printing.

Also, I may be wrong, but the actual ink absorber is the sponge part by the rollers underneath when it prints. I dont know if it has sorted the actual problem, but I took the sponge part out (I have an MP130 and the sponge part lifts straight out if you carefully put your finger underneath it on the left hand side) and let it soak in water, sqeezing it to get the ink out (It was full of ink so careful not to get it everywhere as it can be a little messy). When it had dried, I carefully put it back in (make sure you put it in the right way around).

Hopefully that now means the ink absorber is again empty AND the error message has gone.

Not sure about the whole cleaning the sponge idea, but I did it and according to the manual that sponge is labelled as the ink absorber so technically I have emptied it?

I haven't seen any posts about actually cleaning the sponge so take that part as you will.
