Probably a program still running & not shutting down correctly.. You need to work out what it is & fix it.. Maybe needs update or patch etc. If you can look at the hardware or software logs or Ctrl Alt Del, to see what process is still running, it might give a clue as to the cause. But anyway, this is mostly due to something running in the background & refusing to terminate. In the end, the operating system 'kills' it and shutsdown, but your pretty sick of waiting by then.

I have a windows vista which keeps having blue screen and is unable to be turned on sometimes after the blue and i have to wait for a while to be able to switch it on again. any ways to fix it ? thanks

Look at the power settings. The system may be going to sleep, the hard drive shutting down, display blanking by the computer and the monitor itself all can play a part in your problem.

The delay in recovering from sleep in considerable, hybernate is worse, meaning delay.

When I shut down my computer, I think that it is shutting down completly. All lights are off indicating that it is shut down. Then a small blue window will appear and will say "Entering Power Safe Mode"....

If you are turning off your computer by pressing the front panel power button, it is probably just putting Windows to sleep but not shutting the computer off. If your computer has Windows Vista, the default is to hibernate and not shut down even if you shut down through Vista. The "power save" message you see is coming from the monitor, which is letting you know it isn't getting a signal from the computer anymore but the power is still on. Windows will start up again from sleep mode if someone or something moves the mouse or presses a key.

The solution is to make sure the computer is actually shut down. In Vista you can do this by clicking the arrow near the power icon on the Start menu. This gives you the option of shutting down instead of hibernating. In XP, shut the computer down using the start menu shutdown option instead of the computer power button. Then the power will shut down completely.

Sleep Mode Lockup on Dell Inspirion 530 w/ Vista

Try hitting the "Windows" key on your keyboard to bring it out of sleep mode. The "Windows" key is generally found on the bottom row of the keyboard, near the Alt and Ctrl keys, and it has no letters on it, just the Windows logo. That key brings my Windows Vista machines out of sleep mode when other keys won't.

As for the power button, anytime you need to force a computer to turn off, you can press and hold the power button to do so. Usually, you need to hold the power button for 5-10 seconds and it will shut down. Use this option with caution, as it turns the computer off without running through the shutdown process and can cause you to lose data.

Hope this helps.

try a CTRL+ALT+DELETE and select Start Task Manager and see if you can turn off some stuff to see if you can correct it. If you do it and it keeps happening and the same thing needs to be shut down try to see what it is related to and try to uninstall it.

I had a similar problem with one of my computers at home. It actually turned out to be a virus on the computer, what I did to fix it was, called the customer support for my system with happened to be a dell and through tedious work they talked me through how to fix it. But it sounds to me like your problem is a virus, possibly a trojan horse that got in there somehow. You want to be careful though because I was told that each time the computer shuts off the virus spreads.
Good Luck,
Chris

You probably have the "go to sleep" timeout set too low. Check out "Power Options" in the control panel.

The ACER tour program wont go away & covers the screen no matter what!

Press CTRL+ALT+Delete.

If you're using Windows Vista this will bring you to a new prompt screen asking you what you wish to do. Select 'Task Manager'.
You will be returned to the Desktop and the Task Manager will open up on the screen.

Click on the 'Processes' tab on the window, and search through the list until you find something along the lines of... AcerTour.exe

Click on this process to highlight it, and press the 'End Process'
button. (This should immediately close the running process)

Computer will not shut down

I have not switched to Vista, but I would try starting the Task Manager (right click on the task bar and select task manager). Then I would select the Processes tab and start killing processes to see if you can track down which one is causing your problem. Assuming you can narrow this problem down to a single process you'll at least have a fighting chance at solving fixing this.

Good luck.
