Is there anyway of resetting the security code for this system. It works great, just can't shut it off short of turning off the power. We bought this condo from a foreclosure sale and can't locate the owner.
Do you mean the access code for turning off an alarm or arming the system before leaving? If so, NO. You would have to know the original code to even enter programming to change the access code. Contact your realtor and have them get you in contact with the previous owner. Find out the code from them. If they properly removed their code before moving from the house use the default code, 1234. Good Luck.

Re: Don't have the access code
Depending on how option 54 is set the default master codes are 123456, 12345, 1234 or 123. The default Utility codes (1-Dealer, and 2-Installer) are 654321, 54321, 4321 or 321. If you get any of these to work, you can follow these steps to reset the memory to factory defaults:
Open panel cover and enter in code that worked from above.
Unplug the transformer and disconenct the battery.
Simultaneously press and hold - Cancel, ClockSet, and Minutes +.
Restore the power to the panel with the battery while pressing these three buttons. The panel should respond "Hello. System XX OK"
Release the buttons and plug in the transformer to the outlet.

There are many kind of passwords: master, dealer, user 1,2,3,4
and panic code.
You have to enter to the programing mode the default is 4321
if this does not work you have to get the code from the company who sold it to you, so you can entrer the access code level which is the first section that appear once you have enter the right installer code after you reach the system programing section. Ouhsin the OK let you in using the arrow to scroll down let you go to other sectio of the program the OK is the enter button
Your system is manufactured by Napco Security Systems of Amityville, New York. Call them at 1-800-645-9445 and request that they provide you with a security dealer in your area. The dealer should be able to access the system's internal data and retrieve the user code for turning on and off your system.
Normally the default codes are either 4321,or 1234.
If those don't work you should try a reset by. first unplugging the red wire behind the system and unplugging the ac adapter. Then you press at the same time the "cancel button" "clock set button" and the "minute plus button" while plugging it in. After that the code should be either 4321, or 1234.
If your problem ain't fixed and the system is not in the trashcan yet, try this: Open panel and enter Utility access code (654321 / 54321 / 4321 / 321), mostly it's 4321, unless someone changed the code. Unplug from powersource and unplug battery.
Now comes the fun part....
Press Cancel + Clock set + Minutes+ at the same time and restore the power with the battery. If it says "Hello, System XX OK" you've reset the panel to factory settings and can set up the whole system from the beginning.
Powering down for several hours should reset the code to 1234.
To power down, find where it plugs into the wall. It'll be a big plug, about the size of your fist ( a three-inch, block style plug), black, white or beige in color, probably a little screw holding it in. It may be directly below the panel or could be in the room on the other side of the wall of the panel. Otherwise, it may be in a garage, basement or attic. It may be in a weird place, like behind a couch in the living room or on the ceiling in the garage. Good luck finding it!
Next, disconnect the back up battery. This can be tricky because it's really easy to break the little tab that holds the compartment shut. With the cover open, look at the top of the panel or the sides/corners. CAREFULLY push the tab, open the cover and disconnect the battery.
Leave it powered down for 24 hours and then plug in the battery first, then plug it into the wall. The code should (hopefully) be 1234 now.
When opening your panel and it states "enter id" try to put in 4321 or 6321. It will probably let you in since those are installation ids and then once in you can change your access codes. Let me know if that helps. And if you know anything about how to get my siren to go off when i sensor is tampered with please let me know bc my system is not working! lol
Download the manual. I can't remember if it is in the User's Manual or the Programming Manual but a sequence to reset the security code is detailed in one of them. Also, it soulds like the telephone line was wired through the system for full seizure. To defeat this, you will need to take it out of the phone lines at the outside telco box. How it is wired is that the alarm panel intercepts the telephone line first and then feeds the circuit back out to the main junction where the telco comes into the house.
