Question about Vacuums

5 Answers

I have a Hoover power max self propelled vacuum. The belt that goes to the self propelled part keeps slipping off. I've had the belt replaced, but the problem persists. What can be wrong? I've taken it to a Sew N Vac repair, but all he did was replace the belt again. And it still has the same problem.

I can guess of one problem

belt gets removed when motor is running right?
am assuming that belt is fit tightly and fits correctly when motor is in rest

if so then ur motor is not running at a proper speed which can be a possible reason for making the drum to slip from its place.

else ur drum which holds the belt is some what mis aligned from its normal position.

    else do this

buy a belt of short size than required and try putting it on to the drum

even if the belt comes out then drum is bad.

    else drum alignment is bad.

    this is what my conclusion.

    thank you

    have a nice day

Check for cracks, tears,
or loss of tension. hair or threads may wind
around brush roll or belt pulley. Replace the
belt. Remove any threads or hair. A build up
could cause the belt to slip.

See also roller shaft sleeves or bearings to be thoroughly cleaned and can turn freely by hand. if not turn freely causes belt slipping.

    good luck

The pulley or roller that the belt is on might be crooked or has become misaligned. Have a look into this and let me know what you find and I would be glad to help you until you fix this problem.

good luck

Hi,

You may have a bad brush roll,or the base itself has a problem and isn't letting the brush roll sit straight so it can be in alignment.

Goodluck,

How to stop the main belt from comming off the motor shaft on a hoover modle u6634-900/windtunnel

Hello there! If you have replaced the belt and it is still slipping off, you may be not have the right belt for your vacuum. This unit takes a flat belt and a v-belt. Make sure you are replacing the belts with Genuine Hoover Parts. I have included the links below where you may go to order the belts specific to your cleaner.

U6485-900 WindTunnel Self-Propelled I changed the belts but there is not enough tension on the brush drive belt to get it to rotate

I had the exact same problem with my Hoover U6485-900 Anniversary upright, self propelled, vacuum. It would move backwards and forwards, had good vacuum, but wouldn't pick up much because the brush/roller was not turning very well. I replaced the main drive belt (38528035) and it now works great. The old belt had stretched and was slipping under load. Thanks for the great suggestions.

Self Propel doesn't work on Hoover Wind Tunnel

Your self propel wire could be broken. Lean the vacuum back like you were using it. If you stand in front of the vacuum look down and to your left. When you move the selp propel button you should see a wire move. If not then it's broken.

Belt will not stay on hoover windtunnel s3765

The Hoover Windtunnel™ Self-Propelled models have two belts, a flat belt and the V-Belt. This V-Belt is the one that drives the Brush Roller. After about three months, most belts stretch out causing them to slip. This means the brushroll turns slower or not at all and the self-propelled becomes increasingly harder to push. It is recommended that both belts should be changed at the same time.

no don't do that, have a little patience.check where the self propelled assembly is and see if anything got in there, something might be loose and the teeth are meeting each other.thats a good vavuum.i have 2 but their not self propelled.try taking the belt off the self propelled machanisn and try it again.if it works then something is keeping the propelled machanism from working.dig a little deeper, what do you have to lose?

Need help installing belt on Hoover self propelled upright vacuum

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover Ultra U6430-900 Wind Tunnel Bagged Upright. The best way to install the belt on a Hoover to replace one or both of the belts @ the same time for the best cleaning. The average belt change is every 4 to 6 months for best results. There is a tool that looks like a screwdriver that has a right or left angle on the end that serves as a belt puller and to hook the belt(s) onto the brushroll 1st and then take your puller and then pull or stretch the belt onto the motor pulley. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

HOW DO I REPLACE THE DRIVE BELT ON A HOOVER WIND TUNNEL SELF PROPELLED

Take the brush belt and slip it over the pull into the groove. Then take the flat belt and hook onto the motor shaft and then pull belt over pull and push it around the entire pulley. It can be difficult but after the first time it is easy. You have to push the belt up with your thumbs so the belt will wrap all the way around
