Disable the service,

hold down windows key and press r

type in services.msc

then from the services list find Microsoft Software Shadow copy Provider - thats the one i beleave.

Right click, properties, startup type, disabled. then stop the service.

You shouldnt get any more errors and the service is not required so everything should work normally.

How to fix error code. STOP: 0x0000C1F5

This issue occurs because the Common Log File System (Clfs.sys) driver does not fix the $TxfLog file when the file is corrupted. In addition to the Stop error message, Windows Vista may not start during startup until the offending disk is removed from the computer.
Support for Windows Vista without any service packs installed ended on April 13, 2010. To continue receiving security updates for Windows, make sure you're running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
To fix this allow Microsoft Windows to update you to the latest service pack.

Seagate freeagentGo does not work with windows server 2003

Symptoms The problem I encountered after connecting the drive to the eSATA card was the following error in the Windows System event log:
Source: Disk
Event ID: 7
Description: The device, DeviceHarddisk2, has a bad block.
At first I thought this indicated a bad disk. But eventually I saw apattern: the bad block error only occurred if the drive had enteredits "sleep" state, i.e. had spun down. By default, this happens after15 minutes. If I accessed the drive in Windows explorer after it hadspun down, in the few seconds that it took it to spin back up, Windowswould get impatient and report a bad block error. Note that the "sleep"mode I'm referring to is an internal feature of the Seagate drive--itis not under the control of Windows Power Options in the Control Panel.
If I attached the Seagate drive via a USB cable, let it spin down, and then accessed it, I did not get a bad block error.
Another symptom, one that I did not at first associate with theFreeAgent disk, was the following message in the Application event log:
Source: VSS
Event ID: 12289
Description: Volume ShadowCopy Service error: Unexpected errorDeviceIoControl(\?Volume{ba849e07-88fb-11d9-9c6f-806d6172696f} -0000017C,0x0053c020,00039B48,0,00038B40,4096,[0]). hr = 0x80070017.
This error occurred when I started an ntbackup job. Apparentlyduring Volume Shadow Services initialization, it couldn't immediatelyaccess to the Seagate drive and so logged this error. A bad block errorwas also logged at exactly the same time.
CauseMy speculation is that Windows knows that USB drives may spin down, andit will wait for them to become accessible. However, because an eSATAdrive runs as a BIOS-attached drive (similar to a SCSI drive), Windowstreats it as an internal drive and expects it to be "on" at all times.
SolutionThe solution is to attach the drive to a Windows XP or Vista machine, install the FreeAgent Tools software, go to Utilities, and set theDrive Sleep Interval to Never. Then move the drive back to the server. The Sleep Interval setting is maintained even though the drive ispowered down when moving it to another machine. Once I did this, boththe bad block and the VSS errors stopped.
ConclusionIt's obviously a pain to have to install a 142MB software package justto change the Sleep Interval, but Seagate Support said there is noother way. Too bad they don't make a simple command-line utility forupdating the drive settings. (The software has lots of slickbackup/restore features, integration with Internet drive access,etc.--all kinds of things that I don't need in this environment.) Itried installing the FreeAgent software under Windows Server 2003, butthe installation failed with a message that it only runs under Windows2000, XP, or Vista. Hence the solution of temporarily installing thesoftware on a desktop machine.
I wonder if others have had similar problems with eSATA drives thatlike to go to sleep? Eventually Windows may need to add an option totreat eSATA drives like it treats USB drives. Considering that thisdrive is only used once a day during backups, it would be nice if sleepmode worked without causing errors. In the meantime, I'll hope thatkeeping the drive out of sleep mode resolves the "bad block" errors.

Hello. I am running vista home ultimate 64bit. Manually I am unable to create a restore point. Error message 0x8004230F unexpected error for shadow copy provider. I have check in the computer management...

Sometimes, Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit will not allow to create a restore point as it is self scheduled to create its own restore system restore points.

To over-come this: turn the system off, press the on button and keep pressing the F8 button to get into Safe Mode. Once you are in Safe Mode, go to the System Restore and then create a Restore Point. Once you have done this, shut down and restart the system, you will then see your restore point that you have created.

Hope this helps

I can not install OfficeSuite. I have Windows Vista home Premium. I had downloaded updates all afternoon and it still shows error 1719 Window installer not correctly installed. Help!

Download:Windows Vista Service Pack 1

I tried personally in WIN-XP worked same applies to Vista.

Error Message:
Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. You may be running in safe mode or Windows Installer may not be correctly installed. Translation:
This message might appear when you’re trying to add or remove a program that installs via a Windows Installer MSI (Microsoft Software Installation) package file. The Windows Installer Service is the standard method for installing and uninstalling software on Windows XP. It keeps track of all of the components that need to be installed for a particular program to run and ensures that any files that are shared by programs are not removed when one of those programs is uninstalled. The Error 1719 is an indication that some Windows Installer Service files are missing or have become damaged. Solution:
The first thing to try is re-registering Windows Installer in the Windows registry. Make sure that no other programs are running and then click Start, Run, type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click OK. Next, click Start, Run, type misexec /regserver in the Open field, and click OK. Restart your computer and try installing or uninstalling again.

If you’re still getting the error message, the next step is to try reinstalling the Windows Installer files. In order to do this, you’ll first need to rename the existing files.

First, click Start, Run, and type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click OK.

In My Computer, click Search and locate the following three files: msi.dll, msiexec.exe, and msihnd.dll. They are hidden files so you’ll need to select Search Hidden Files And Folders under More Advanced Options. When you’ve found the files, rename them, by removing the .dll and .exe extensions and replacing them with an .old extension(for example msi.dll becomes msi.old).

Once you’ve renamed the files, WinXP will automatically replace them with a new copy from the dllcache (a hidden folder where copies of important system files are kept in case you mistakenly delete or rename critical system files). Restart your computer and try to install or uninstall the program again.

Finally, if neither of the above processes corrects the problem, boot into Safe Mode, and go through the above steps again, first re-registering and then reinstalling.

This means this program not compatible with Vista.

You need to uninstall the program, and reboot the system.

Now there is a way to install with XP compatibility, 80% of the time this will work. (if this does not work, you will just have to find the version of the program that works with Vista)

To install with XP compatibility:
Running the Vista Program Compatibility Wizard 1) Click on Start
2) Click on Control Panel
3) Click on Programs
4) Click on Use an older program with this version of Windows.
5) Then just follow the instructions in the Wizard.

Insert the installation disc for the program. Open the Compatibility Wizard. In the Wizard, browse to the program's setup file (Setup.exe, Install.exe, etc.)

Keep gatting error code 80073715 on windows update!

Hello,

You can try the following and it should clear it up.

Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder in C:windows (it will be recreated next time you visit Windows Update again)
You will lose your history but that's not important.
If the above step doesnt clear it up continue below:
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service. ( with Vista it may read Windows
Update)
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:
a. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%, and then click OK.
b. Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c. Type SoftwareDistribution.old, and then press ENTER to rename this folder.

Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

Retry Windows Update before reading further.

If you need to reinstall the ActiveX controls (because they may have become
corrupt):-

Follow this article (the article is listed the download for the old client) -
The Windows Update Web site and the Microsoft Update Web site do not scan
for updates when
you repair a failed installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 or of Windows
XP Service
Pack 1

shadow copy service had to do with your system restore feature.

several things can interfere with the system restore process. Low disk space is one

Here is a nice document, explaining what it is and how it works
