Hobart L800 Mixer Age & Bowl Question

Hi,
I have a Hobart L800 mixer with the serial number 11 172 368. I am trying to find out how old it is because apparently they changed a few things on them at one point in time causing a bit of a problem with them being universal in the hub and bowl fittings.
It has an 80 quart bowl that either needs to be retinned or replaced. Can't be without the bowl as I need it for my business but don't want to spend the money on a new one if it's not going to fit. Any ideas. I've tried doing a search on the age with no luck.
Thanks in advance for the help!

The problem is that apparently they changed the actual fitting sizes. Example ~ Most everyone that has this type of mixer has a #12 hub fitting for the attachments. I tried buyig an attachment that was for a #12 hub and it didn't fit.

Now I need a new bowl but I don't know if I order a standard 80qt hobart bowl if it will not fit as for some reason the #12 hub didn't fit. I had read somewhere they changed some of the universal fittings after a certain year. I have to go back to read the other numbers on the side plate as I can't remember them off of the top of my head.

The manufacter date is actually a two letter code on the data plate. But being the s/n is an "11", factory #11, it's old.

The key number for getting the right parts on a Hobart is the "ML" or "Spec" number. It is most always a five diget number.

As far as your actual problem -- I'm confused.

The #12 or #22 hub refers to the attachment hub on the nose of the unit. This was an option for years. So both sizes are out there.

As far as the bowl, an 80qt mixer always uses the same bowls. The 80qt mixer has bowl adapters for smaller bowls, but otherwise there is only one bowl size.

If you have trouble finding a reasonbly priced bowl, let me know.

What is the difference between a H800 and L800 mixer

I have used the H600. Nice piece of kitchen kit for hard use.

Model H600 is a heavy-duty 60-quart mixer which features a two-horsepower motor, a timer and a #12
Attachment Hub as standard equipment. With the use of bowl adapters and special agitators, 30- or 40-
quart bowls may be used on the H600.

Model L800 is a medium-duty 80-quart mixer designed primarily for use in general kitchen applications.
This mixer features a timer and #12 Attachment Hub as standard equipment and is powered by a
two-horsepower motor. With the use of bowl adapters and special agitators, 30-, 40- or 60- quart bowls
may be used on the L800.

A Bowl Guard is standard equipment on all H600 and L800 models.

A programmable timer controller is optional on H600 and L800 models.

These mixers can be ordered with a stainless steel finish.
A variety of attachments and accessories are available for all mixers. These are described in a separate Use and Applications Handbook, which is furnished with each mixer.

Age of a Hobart Stand Mixer by Serial No.

the ML or spec number would be trackable from the resource site.
Enter the model number and check the date of the corresponding build number.
https://my.hobartcorp.com/resourcecenter/Pages/FilterByModel.aspx
If it does not have a safety cage fitted, there are some areas of the countyr where it can not be used commercially, untill one is fitted. Depending on the model, that would be a thousand dollars or more.

Hobart L800 will not stay on unless you hold start buuton

If it has a bowl guard on it then it could be the bowl height switch or the side switch on the contactor. If it does not have a bowl guard then it is more than likely the contactor side switch.Check www.hobartservice.com for your local Hobart office.

I have model A-200-D Hobart mixer. Serial # 1575984. It is leaking oil into the bowl. Who can I call to get an estimate to service or repair this machine?

The oil leeking into your bowl is old grease that has broken down into oil and is getting past your oil seal you need to take out all of your old grease and oil replace it with hi-temp grease or a good grade lithium grease and replace your agitor shaft oil seal

Hobart HZ (h600?) Raising handle is acting up

You will need to confirm the model number. An H600 or L800 have a wheel to manually turn to raise and lower the bowl. The M802 and V1401 hav a belt driven bowl lift clutch, operated by a lever. When you push the lever up or down, you are engaging a small transmission between the motor and main housing. You would need to remove the top cover and see what's happenning. It may be there is something other than the proper spiral pin joining the lift lever to the clutch input shaft, giving alot of backlash and insufficient selector movement.

Hobart A-200 mixer (OLD!) runs hot & shuts down.

You have killed it by overloading the bowl. Hobart recomends no more than 65% bowl capacity on doughs & 75% on batters or icings. Replace the motor or the whole unit

Age of a-200

There is a two letter code that translates to the month and year. You would need to call Hobart to translate. 1-937-332-3000

There are hints to the age, first two digit of the S/N is the factory. "11" are the older ones, spec vs ml on plate, type of power switch, bowl gaurd....
