Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

In use/memory light

This happens every time; after I let the ink run low (and sometimes out of ink) my memory light goes on. After I change the cartriges with Canon cartriges the light will not turn off and and it keeps printing out the same report with a the screen display "FAX output error, check the page size and press(ok). Ido, and the same page repeats every time I press ok. I cannot find anywhere in the manual about how to correct this situation.
Any help out there?

The in Use/memory light problems seems to go in tandem with a FAX Error Output message. This results in a FAX report being printed frequently. You can't stop it. You follow the directions and it simply repeats and repeats. It is very annoying and it uses up paper. The CANON fix didn't work. This is beginning to tick me off.

Memory card in use light is on. I tried everything to resetting it and it wont fuckin work. This is a very expensive printer and nobody knows how to fix it. Whats the point of having an nice printer and you have all of these features when you cant even printer a simple document.

You can delete docs held in memory by going to Menu, View docs in memory, scroll down to delete. This makes the light turn off. My fax stopped taking faxes while I was away because this memory held too many docs and my ink was low. Very inconvenient.

Canon mg5220 printer won't print black

Try this: take a small, sharp knife and make sure the air slit on the top of the cartridge goes all the way through the plastic.
You know that little tab you have pull off the top of the cartridge before inserting in the print head? There is a tiny slit under the tab to let air in, which is necessary to let the ink flow out. The slit is made very small so ink won't leak inadvertently out the top. Sometimes the slit doesn't go all the way through the plastic. When that happens, the ink can't flow.
I blew through that slit on a defective cartridge and no ink came out. I used a pen knife to open the slit (it doesn't take much) and then blew again. This time ink spewed out the bottom. My print test showed the black ink coming through. It was a bit spotty so I cleaned the print head and now the black ink comes out just like its supposed to.

Will only print yellow, black and photo black-- red cartridge shows ink in window and I just refilled blue-- cartridge was only out of printer a few hours. I've cleaned the print head a number of...

There are a few things here that will do this. One is the cartridge is a smart cartridge and unless you reset the chip it either won't print or shows low. If you filled it before then this shouldn't be it. If you have refilled the cart more than a few times they sometimes just stop. This is either the ink has jelled inside or the little feeder sponge is dried out. If you changed ink brands sometimes the ink reacts with the old stuff and jells. The other is the jet or any feeder tubes are plugged with dried ink. Usually happens if you haven't printed for a while. You can try running the cleaning cycle and it will take quite a few of these sometimes before it starts working.

There are a few more tricks for cleaning such as using white vinegar to dissolve dried ink but that's a bit of the messy side sometimes. Usually we have just had to buy a replacement cartridge after spending the time on this. We eventually just got rig of our ink jets and got some of the cheaper color laser printers. Wish we had done that sooner.

Lexmark X5650 says faxes in memory. Already went to another mode. How do I get faxes out of memory?

Once you navigate away from the fax mode when a fax message goes into memory, you will lose the message. If this happens again, try not to navigate away from the fax mode. The "fax in memory" message usually pops up when the printer's not able to continue printing the fax due to a very low ink level. Just open the printer (w/o navigating away from the fax mode) > replace the ink cartridges > close the cover > print the fax.

My hp laserjet 1012's top red light keeps blinking. could this happen because my ink is low?

I do believe that the red light blinks when the ink is running low.

Are you still able to use your printer, to print that is!
Consult the manual in this regard, only purchase a replacement ink toner when it has completely run out of ink.
Be sure to purchase the correct toner for this printer!

Thumbs up
Thanking you

Why does it say change cartage and cyan?

You're out of Cyan (blue) ink, or at least the machine thinks you are. You need an LC51C cartridge. Open the door to the right of the paper cassette to access it.
The machine checks the cartridge by shining a light through the clear rib in the edge that goes in first. Hold the cartridge level and look though the rib. if there's no ink in it, tip the edge down and watch ink flow in. The machine will refuse to print when you are low on ink, because if you run out completely, air will get into the tubes, then the print nozzles might dry out and clog.
If the cartridge is still full so it shows when held level, try this:

Unplug the machine's power.
Pull out all four inks and set them aside. Set them on a plate or something that won't stain if it gets ink on it.
Plug the power back in.
The machine will complain that there is no ink. I think it will tell you to replace a certain color first, probably black. Follow the display's instructions, replacing each color in order.
Close the ink cover.

Sometimes the optical sensors get out of whack and don't detect ink even when the cartridge is full. The procedure above gives the machine a chance to readjust those sensors, and you're ready to print again.

If a cartridge is low on ink, this won't help. You need to buy ink.

There have been some reports of the sensors getting knocked loose and unable to "see' the ink, no matter what you do. If so, it's due for some serious disassembly, but I haven't seen that happen.

The orange light is lit up on the printer. What does this mean?

There is a problem with the printer. Press resume button again and see if the light orange light goes off. If not then switch off the computer wait for sometime and start again. If it still persists read the error code.

On my Canon MX310, the display says "Waiting for Report". Fax Memory is clear, but the In Use/Memory light stays on.

Try this step ... found it on Canon's website

Issue: ERROR LCD: WAITING FOR REPORT
Solution: Set [AUTO PRINT RX] to ON (MX300 / MX310)

AUTO PRINT RX When [AUTO PRINT RX] is set to [OFF], incoming received faxes will be temporarily stored to memory and transaction reports (TX, RX and Activity) remain in memory. The default setting is [ON], which means incoming received faxes and transaction reports will automatically print. The fax machine will not automatically print a received fax and will store it in memory in the following conditions.
  • Ink is low or has run out
  • The paper size and type is not set correctly
  • Paper has run out
  • The Output Tray is closed
To set AUTO PRINT to ON, please follow these steps.
  1. Press the <FAX> button to enter the Fax menu.

  2. Press the <Menu> button. [FAX SETTINGS] is displayed

  3. Press the left or right arrow button to select [RX SETTINGS] , then press <OK> two times.

  4. Press the left arrow to select [ON], then press <OK>.

Note: When AUTO PRINT RX is set ON, a sub-menu will appear to PRINT WHEN NO INK.

  5. At sub-menu PRINT WHEN NO INK, decide if you'd like the machine to continue to print incoming received faxes if ink is low.

CAUTION: When this option is set ON, the fax machine will not monitor the ink level of the ink cartridges. If ink is low or out, received faxes will print with streaks or blank. Furthermore, once the fax is printed, it will be deleted from memory.
    1. To print received faxes when ink is low or out, press the left or right arrow to select [ON] and then press <OK>.
    2. To store received faxes in memory when ink is low or out, press the left or right arrow to select [OFF] and then press <OK>.

  6. Press the <Stop/Reset> repeatedly to return to Fax standby mode.
