SB speakers error

I have a pioner VSX-917V. I hooked up my 2 front speakers, center speaker, 2 back speakers and a sub.

When I do the auto-mcacc. The test tones come out of all the speakers, but then it takes me to an error screen and says there is an error with the SB speakers

I have the exact same problem. I´ve googled it and also sent the question to Pioneer. The answer i got from Pioneer was that the MCACC needed the SB speakers to be closer to the mic than the frontspeakers and if that didnt work the mic could be broken???
The things i´ve read on internet is to check the cables so the polarity is correct, + to + and - to -. Some have also said to change the cable connections to "surrond" instead of "rear". (If 7.1 system)

I have the exact same problem as well and I haven't gotten anything to work, it doesn't make any sense, the rear speakers make noise but it comes up with an unexplained error.

I had the same problem but fixed it (no thanks to what I believe is an oversight by Pioneer!). The amp is a 7.1 system. What we are assuming is the rear surround (SB) is the default using a 5.1 setup. The amp uses the SR & SL as the default. So the solution is plug your rear speakers into the SR & SL & you should have your surround! (only took me 6 hours to figure this out, hope it saves you time!)

Pioneer VSX-72TXV wont power up. mcacc light just blinks.. unit does not have a video 2 button on the face.

try holding the "TUNE -" button and the ZONE 2 on/off button and see if it turns on. If its turns on, but turns back off again, you either have a problem with your speakers (try disconnecting them) or there is a problem with the receiver that needs to be repaired.

Check in your speaker setup menu. Sometimes you can select between using the surround back speaker jacks as "B" front speakers as well. You would have to tell the unit which one you want to use it as.

You have to configure it first. Make sure you follow the instructions on page 5 of your manual to run Auto MCACC Setup which tests the acoustics of your room, speaker size, power level, etc. This is necessary before it will enable you to use surround sound.

Auto MCACC Screen Appearing

It would appear the unit thinks your McAAC microphone is inserted. Is it?

Automatically setting up for surround

sound (Auto MCACC)

The Auto MCACC Setup measures the acoustic characteristics of your listening area, taking into account

ambient noise, speaker size and distance, and tests for both channel delay and channel level. After you have set

up the microphone provided with your system, the receiver uses the information from a series of test tones

to optimize the speaker settings and equalization for your particular room.

Make sure you do this before moving on to Playing a source on page 11.

Important

• Make sure the microphone and speakers are not moved during the Auto MCACC Setup.

• Using the Auto MCACC Setup will overwrite any existing settings for the MCACC preset you select.

• Before using the Auto MCACC Setup, the headphones should be disconnected and the iPod

USB, XM or SIRIUS Radio function should not be selected as an input source.

1 Switch on the receiver and your TV.

2 Connect the microphone to the MCACC SETUP MIC

jack on the front panel.

Place the microphone so that it's about ear level at your normal listening position (use a tripod if possible). Make

sure there are no obstacles between the speakers and the microphone.

The Auto MCACC display appears once the microphone is connected.1

Note

1 • You can't use the System Setup menu in either the main or sub zone when the iPod USB, XM or SIRIUS Radio input source is selected. When you set ZONE 2 to ON (page 61), you can't use the System Setup menu.
• If you cancel the Auto MCACC Setup, or leave an error message

etc.

It's all in the manual.

Assuming you're using the Surround Back speakers for their primary purpose, let's establish that there is something in the way of programming being routed to that speaker. Fire up the speaker level setup procedure and use any handy audio device (*) to see if a signal is present at the Surround Back Pre Out jack. If not, that speaker will never, uh, speak.

* For this test you could use your powered subwoofer. You DO have one, right? Just swap the RCA cable from Sub W Pre Out to the SB R Pre Out jack to see if anything appears there.

Based upon your description, the subwoofer is just a speaker and is taken from the normal speaker outputs. Run your A channel to the sub and then from the sub to the left and right front speakers. That should do it.

Bose 901 connection to Pioneer VSX-917v Receiver

any pre-out should work. i believe the bose have a rca jack connector for attaching to the receiver. look at the new receiver connection diagram. any output that is rca designed for use by a recording device will send a signal that the 901's can see.
always check the manual on both before connecting for any precautions.
good luck
