I have a fridge that i just bought second hand and when i plugged it in the lights came on but not the compressor or any fans. I left i plugged in over night and its still not cold. Is there a kill switch or a reset button that i might have tripped moving it?

If you laid it down when you moved it and didn't wait 24 hours before using it, it's no good now.

Or check the compressor starter/overload relay. It could be burnt on the inside.

Compressor start no longer working then stop cooling?

There are several possible causes when a refrigerator doesn't keep your milk cold or your ice cream frozen. Before you attempt more complex repairs, try these simple fixes if your refrigerator is not cooling and if your freezer is not working:
·Be sure the fridge is plugged in and getting power. The light should come on when you open the door.
·Check the thermostat to make sure it hasn't been turned way down by mistake. If your fridge/freezer thermostat isn't working.
·Be sure the vents on the back of the freezer compartment aren't blocked by boxes of ice cream or frozen vegetables-the vents have to be clear for cold air to circulate.
·Vacuum the coils under or behind the fridge. Clogged coils can cause poor cooling.
·Check to make sure nothing is stuck in the condenser fan and that it spins freely (models with coils on the back won't have a fan). To do this, unplug the fridge and pull it out. Clean the fan blades and spin the fan by hand to see if it's stuck. Plugin the fridge and make sure the fan runs when the compressor is running. If the fan doesn't run, see the directions below, which show how to replace it.

      Replace the Refrigerator Evaporator Fan
·Here are some refrigerator troubleshooting tips to help you zero in on the problem if you notice your fridge not cooling. If you can hear the compressor running but the fridge isn't cooling, the problem is most likely either frost-clogged evaporator coils or a stuck or broken evaporator fan. Evaporator fans often squeal or chirp when they start to go bad. You'll know it's the evaporator fan if the noise gets louder when you open the freezer door. The evaporator coils and fan are located behind a cover in the freezer compartment
·If you remove the cover inside the freezer and find the coils completely filled with frost, take everything out of the freezer and fridge, unplug it and let it thaw for 24 to 48 hours. Keep a few towels handy to soak up water that may leak onto the floor. When all the frost is melted away, plug the fridge back in. If it works, the problem may be a defrost timer, defrost heater or defrost thermostat. Replacing these parts isn't difficult, but figuring out which is faulty requires troubleshooting that we won't cover here. Call a pro if you suspect a problem with these parts.
·Normally the refrigerator condenser fan and compressor, located near the floor on the back of most refrigerators, come on when the thermostat calls for more cooling. If you don't hear the compressor running after the door has been left open for a while, it could mean the condenser fan is stuck or worn out or that the relay or compressor is bad.

Samsung fridge wont start compressor right away. There is delay, so when you plug fridge in it take 15 - 20 minutes to start. To check if fan is running, you need magnet. Place it on top of door hinge. Open door and if lights are out, you are in wright spot. Take magnet of to test if lights come on. Now put magnet back and if fridge fan is running you can feel it how it blow from different outlets inside of fridge .

Just bought a second hand service fridge/freezer. Plugged it in and it is not getting cold or freezing. I can hear a hum but only for a few seconds at a time. I have been assured that it works but after 2...

no check the air thats being blown by the fan in the freezer can you feel any cold air and i mean cold? if not go to the back of the fridge taKE Off the bottom panel should have like 6 to 10 screws see if the fan in the back is working  if yes see how hot the compressor(the big black thing next to the fan, sorry some people dont know what it is) see if its hot if it is very very hot like burn your hand hot you can try to cool it down with some paper towels and cold water but unplugg the fridge if its warm not so hot or cold than you need to get a 3 in 1 kit  your compressor is not turning on because the starter relay is not good and its not helping the fridge turn on the relay is very very easy to install once you get it youll have to take off the black plasticon the right or front side of the compressor there are two plastic parts that are on the compressor under the big black part ( you might not have the black plastic if not just do this step) take the plastic parts that have the wires attached to it put the kit on on the kit there are three wires with metal little parts at the tips fallow the directions and place them on the right part of the  compressor there are three metal sticks about less than an inc big and you have to put the three wires on each one FALLOW THE PICTURE black on the middle on and depending if you middle on is on the top or bottom would depend where you put what color wire if you middle one is at the top put white wire on the left and red on the right and if you middle one is in the bottom black goes on it and white on the right and red on the left but like i said fallow the directions
than you have to strip the other two wires that are left on the kit than take the two wires that you took off with the plastic parts that were on the compressor once you cut them strip the wires and just connect them to the two left over ones from the kit doesnt matter which one goes where
sorry for the long reply but this should help
if you do the 3 in 1 kit and the compressor turns on and after a while like an hour it doesnt feel cool air at all than you have a freeon leak which mean new fridge
the 3 in 1 costs like 20 dollars
good luck keep me upadated

Fridge freezer light on nothing else after transporting.

IS THIS A AUTOMATIC DEFROST UNIT? IF SO THEN THE DEFROST CLOCK PROBABLY IS BAD, LOOK UNDERNEITH BY THE COMPRESSOR AND THERE SHOULD BE A SQUARE ISH BAX THAT HAS 4 WIRES COMING OUT OF IT. TAKE AND TURN THE RED KNOB WITH A SCREW DRIVWER UNTIL THE COMPRESSOR COMES ON. IF THAT WAS NOIT IT TAKE A HAIR DRIER AND HEAT UP THE LIDUID LINE DRIER SOME TO TRY TO CLEAR THE RESTRICTION ON THE DRIER. GOOD LUCK (SORRY ABOUT ALL CAPS BUT GOT TIRED OF CORECTING THE SPELLING) NOT SHOUTING

Compressor very hot + water leaking

This is not normal. The coolant charge is low which means it leaked out some where. Return it.
