If in outlook express.... go to accounts andenter your pop3 server address, for instance if you have comcast, it would be pop.comcast.com and the smtp would be smtp.comcast.com pop stands for post office protocal it is for outgoing email and smtp is for incoming email. good luck.

I took a picture of myself with the computer camera. I would like to email it to someone. When I right click it as directed, there was no Send command.

Try saving it into some folder in your hard drive and then make the attempt. Or using your email program click on attachment, navigate to where the picture is, click on it, and then send it with your email.

Can't send attachment cause envelope icon above word send is unlit

The Send button is not 'lit' because you have not filled in the basic criteria for an email.
  1. An email address to send to
  2. A Subject
  3. Some text, even if you are sending an attachment.

Your default email might need to be changed

Open up your new email type in the adress then you should see attachment depending on which email you are using select attachment then you will open up a browse window navigate to your photo/attachment where you have saved it (my pictures) most common select it you might have to wait a few seconds for it to load as an attachment then click send Hope this helps.

Sending email attachments locking up computer

First off this will occur if you are trying to trasmit over a Modem, which has a very very slow Connection. Also if this is a large email, and this is a company PC, they will most likely have a disk quota for your email. So, try to transmit a smaller attach. and see if you get the same results...

After I have downloaded an image from my Logutech camera, I would like to send this as ane-mail attachement. how do I do this please.

Most people store their pictures in the My picture folder which is located in My Documents. You must also consider the size of the file before you send it. A large picture can take along time to download and the person you are sending it to may not happy about that. For example pictures taken from a 7 mega pixel digital camera can be huge and must be resized. Sometimes your email program will ask you if you would like to make your picture smaller to send.
How to place a picture with your email
In the email
  1. Open a New Message box
  2. Choose insert from the top menu, then choose Picture.

  1. The box below appears. Press on Browse to find the picture you want to insert.
  2. Add some Alternate Text. This shows up when the user places their mouse over the picture. Then Press OK.

The screen shot below shows that I have inserted a picture into my email. If someone sent you an email with a picture in it and you want to save it to your computer, right click your mouse on the picture. A menu will appear. Then choose save picture as....

As an attachment
  1. Open a New Message box
  2. Choose insert from the top menu, then choose File Attachment.
  3. Now you can find the picture you want, click on it and the filename box will be filled in for you. Then Press Attach. See Screenshot below.
  4. Now all you have to do it write your message and send.

How to send a attachment with a email

Typically, you can either go through a menu at the top of the screen to add an attachment (like, Message: Add attachment).

A nearly universal way:
Open Windows Explorer. Go to the file you want to send, whether it's in your My Documents folder or what.

Make the window take up a fraction of your screen. Find the file in that smaller window. Drag-and-drop it onto your e-mail message.

I want to scan and email a document from my new HP DESKJET F4280 printer. I can scan it, and then I try to share it, but when I hit the send button it says there is no internet connection. Am I right in...

When you scan a document it must be scanned with OCR software. The default scanning method will scan a document as a picture, not a document with letters and words. The OCR software will recognize the letters and put the scanned document in the proper format to open it with MS Word. The software that you scan with should have a setting for OCR, read your instructions or help files to get the details if you can not find them very easy in the software you use for scanning. .

The problem with using Outlook may be that you have not set it up properly to get your emails from your email server. You do not need to use Outlook or Outlook express to send any documents, you can use your web based email server if you like, but you can use Outlook Express as well. You just need to add the document to send as an attachment to the email.

To set up Outlook Express to get your email, you must first find out what the POP3 and SMTP setting you must use. You can get that information from your email provider, it is different for every email provider. Then you go to the "File" menu at the top left of Outlook Express and select "Identities" and select "Add New Identity" and from there you will go thru a wizard to guide you thru the process of setting up your email client. Just make sure you have the POP3 and SMTP settings available for you to put into Outlook Express when prompted to in the wizard.
