Question about Hoover U5450-900 Windtunnel Supreme Bagged Upright Vacuum

Hoover Wind tunnel supreme, loss of suction

Hello, I purchased two of these modles in late 2007 and after changing the bags on each of them I have little to now suction with the vaccum. The hose is fine and I have taken them apart and there is no obstruction in the hose or in the base.

These worked so well and now they don't do anything. The bag isn't filling much and the simplest things cant be vaccumed up

Please help me to fix this

Hello, I have a Hoover Windtunnel Supreme (Bagged) Model U5458-800 that has lost the ability to clean properly. I have checked for obstructions in the hoses down and they are free and clear. I have also replaced filters and bags with no change in preformance. I do notice that the exhaust air gets hot after running for 3-5 minutes but not hot enought to trip the thermal overload. The belt is original but seems fine and I cannot find any broken or damaged gaskets.

Is there anything that I can check to see if this is a 1) mechanical loading problem with the brushes/belt, 2) bag (I am using a generic bag from Sears), or gasket problem?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the same problem. Has any other solution been found?

It seems as if the motor is reversed and causing my filter bag to collapse into a small ball.

I have the same problem; the attachment hose has suction but the vacuum has none; doesn't make sense. I am ready to toss it and it is only about 2 years old.

It seems the exhaust air on my Hoover U5450-900 Windtunnel Supreme Vacuum is way too hot. I think it's over 90 degrees. I bought it used from a vacuum dealer. I think it tripped it's thermal overload because it just shut off and worked again about 3-5 minutes later, after I unplugged it. This happened about 15-20 minutes after I first started using it. Any ideas what, if anything is wrong?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.

Sorry you are having a problem, it sounds lie you have done almost everything, but just in review it could be some of these problems:
Belt change – every 4 to 6 months
Are the brushes in good shape
Where does your suction drop off
Is the bottom plate securely on the bottom
Are there any gaskets that are broken or leaking
Is the bag installed securely
Did you check for any clogs or obstructions
Is the filter clean
Feel free to contact your local vac dealer in your area.

Sanitaire vacuum real noisy..poor suction

It could be something has the hose constricted... You might want to do a little more cleaning inside other than just changing the bag... Have you seen the cat lately? Also check the roller brushes to see if they have something like string wrapped around the ends.
Have a nice day !!!

Riccar 8995 no suction

I think you mean it's an 8955, Riccar has not had a 8995 model. If there is no suction in the hose it has to have something clogging it. Open the little round opening on the back of the vacuum where the hose attaches to see if you have suction there.

My vaccum is about 1 yr old and has very little suction, in addition the sweeper is not working

You probably have a broken belt on the beater bar (sweeper) or a string/rope caught in into to cause it not to turn. Last option if it is a cannister type, that the electrical connection in the hose are not connected to the beater-bar unit well.

If suction is bad, you may have a full bag (replace with a fresh one). Alternatively, you may have a clog somewhere along the hose or just inside the unit.

Electrolux 2100 vac dies when you attach hose even with new bag.

If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial. You will need to follow the instructions on a previous post to open the Electrolux plastic canister vacuum, and remove the bage cage. Once you remove the bage cage you can change the control valve, and this will solve your problem with the bag full indicator.

Central Vaccum - Kenmore Model No 34330

Is there suction where the pipe hooks to the cannister? If so, then are all of the outlets without suction? Maybe the hose is plugged. If the hose is ok, and there is suction at the cannister, then **** up a small **** of paper, one for each room outlet, have a number on each piece of paper, Which ever one doesn't ,ake it thru to the cannasiter is the outlet that is plugged. You can use a plumbers snake to clean out a clogged outlet or even a clogged hose.

If the motors are running and sound ok, then there has to be suction at the outlet on the cannister. If the filter bag is old, it may be best to replace it with a new one.

Vaccum has no suction

Here is what we did to fix the problem of our vacuum having no suction.
We unscrewed the three screws on the back and took the hose off of the vacuum.  Then we took the hose outside and put the water hose through the vacuum hose and turned on the water.  After about 30 second the water pushed through a dust bunny the size of a fist and a marker.  Basically, the vacuum did not have suction because the hose was clogged with dust, etc.  After reassembling the vacuum, it worked just fine.

Need a new belt -- you might have suction but you need the brush to spin (hard to help without make or model, upright or canister)
