Hello rd34227,

If the headphones are defective, you should be able to purchase replacement headphones at the store where you bought the iPod.

Depending on when you bought the item the unit may still be under manufacturer's warranty. If that is the case you should give Apple a call at 1-800-275-2273 and they can advise you whether the headphones would be covered and how to get a replacement.

Best Regards,
Ken

try not using headphones or listening to loud music for a few days if the sound goes away then you have been damaging your ears with too loud sound. If the problem persists see a doctor as you may have Tinnitus or other hearing/medical disorder that a doctor should have a look at.

When I plug my headphones in why doesnt the sound come out of the headphones?

Where do you plug in the phones? if it is an iPhone. the music playing will be stopped, just to precent your ears to be damaged. When plugging in headphones, while the volume is high, the sound level can be so high, you can damage your ears. Yes damage that will last the set of your life, because loss of hearing, can't regenerate. For that reason some MP3 played, cill stop music playing, as soon as a headphone is plugged in.
Just start the music that was playing when you did lower he output volume if the music stops.

When you pull the wire up does it increase the right ear bud volume/ sound? If it does, then it means the right side ear bud has a short within the head phones circuit which is aka the wire that leads to the musical device in which the ear buds branch off from.

If the right side ear bud does not produce an increased volume for sound by picking the wire up or pulling it in towards you or to the left side of your body or musical device then it means that the right speaker is blown.

I know that all head phones come spiced together aka they are stuck together and have to be pulled apart in order to get both head phones seperated from each other so that they can be worn in the ears. If you pulled the wire apart to much or too quickly then that is what ruined the right head phone.

I suggest that regardless if the ear phones begin to work by pulling the wire up,side ways, or into towards your body that you return them back to the store since after awhile the problem will eventually continue to happen causing the right ear bud to completely blow. Once you return the ear phones be cautious with the new set when you seperate the ear buds from each other since they are very touchy and have to be handled with delicateness when seperation is taking place.

Please let me know how it works out for you. I have had many ear buds and I tell ya something; they are very easy to blow one side when seperating. I had to learn after a few pairs that I was ruining the speakers by the way I was seperating my wires. I kept thinking for the first 3 pairs that the store was selling blown ear buds until I began having same problems with another few stores so I said to myself "well the solution is to figure out what I am doing wrong in order to blow one side of my ear buds every time". After few seconds it was not that obvious that all I had to do for assembly was to pull the wires apart in order to get both ear buds to go into my ears.

I for 1 don't know. But try to go to www.Turtle Beach.com they can help you out. I have Turtle Beach Ear Force XC1 and my mic I can talk but I can't hear anything but if your mic isn't working properly try using a different controller. If that doesn't help try getting a brand new mic.

Wont play music

sounds like you have removed them by pulling on the wires, not by the earbuds or plug. not a recommeded practice when unplugging anything as it usually ends in broken wires internally along with tears. You may be able the get somebody to do some faultfinding/repairs if they are of the super expensive variety otherwise replacement may be the only solution. Most in-ear headphones have super delicate wiring and are as such a real pig to resolder

My daughter bought new headphones in America two weeks ago but when she got home bad connection at jack making bad hearing sounds in one of the ears. When you play about with jack connection it improves...

Well, there are a few ways to solve this. The easy way would be either to call the manufacturer (At (860) 434-9190, more info here) and see if there is a warranty on the item. Second, you could just buy a new pair, which is probably not the best way. Third, you could actually splice a new jack onto the headphones with a little soldering skill. You'll need to: 1)Cut the ******** the end 2)Strip the wires off the jack (and the replacement jack) 3)Solder the wires together (Matching black to black, red to red, ground to ground, etc)
If you've never soldered before, see if you could get a friend to help. Here is a video tutorial of how to solder, if you wish to attempt this yourself.

Before you worry about repair, verify that the balance control in the iPod isn't causing the problem. The easy way to do this is to try some other audio device (home stereo, etc).

Check and see if your TV is on a mono setting. That would cause all sounds to play through the right and left speakers or the headphones.

People on other end hard to hear

hello all,

This is a factory defect from the switch inside the headset plug which when used will disconnect sound to the ear speaker on the phone and route it to the headphone or an ear piece. When this switch is closed by a fault you won't be able to hear anything through the ear speaker once the connection is established.

Take it into your Service Provider's store.

Worldvet
