Question about IBM Wheelwriter 30 Typewriter

1 Answer

Change Font size

Not really a problem, just can't find how to change from 10 to 12 to 15 font size. Not obvious to me on the keyboard, and we have long ago lost the instruction manual. Thanks.

You will have to buy a printwheel with a different font. Brother machines usually come with a Broughm font printwheel. Printwheels may be found in office depot or staples catalogue.

The font size is set by the printwheel, the printing on the P/W case will tell you the pitch 10, 12, 15 or PS. Change the wheel change the pitch.

Change font size on my bother ML 100

A typewritter is not like a computer. It is a mechanical device, that works by pressing an embossed letter in the daisy wheel through a inked tape into the paper.
The only way you can change either the font type or the font size is by buying and replacing the daisy wheel by another one with different font type/size letters.
To get to know more about your typewritter and accessories that might still be available to it, download Brother ML-100 Typewriter User's Manual
Click on "Go to View/Download Page" and in the new page click the "View/Download" button.
Look for page 16 (last page) of the manual for a list of cassette daisy wheels.

Font size won't change

The font is determined by the printwheel. The pitch (spacing) is determined by the slide switch on the left of the keyboard 10, 12, or 15 spaces to the inch.

Need to change the font size

you would have to buy a new printwheel and change the pitch setting (which is a switch on the left side of the keyboard tha has 10, 12, 15, PS printed next to it) or just changing the pitch setting may get you the desired results. it won't hurt anything to change the settings, it just changes the spacing. The PS setting only works on a PS printwheel, any other kind will just print the wrong letters.
