How to change from natural gas to propane

Hi Rodney.

the main change from natural gas to propane is that propane has a bit higher energy content than natural gas, so you may heat things a bit faster. The particulars will depend on your specific make and model of range, but, for instance, with my KitchenAid gas range, the primary difference was getting a slightly different connection orifice made to give proper propane flow and pressure. The install kit may also have listings for necessary delivery pressure ranges from you propane source. If the range is built in, it might be a bit of a pain to get at the gas connections, and it's best done by a professional who will know the proper fittings, seals, and pressure tests to do to make sure you aren't leaking gas all over your kitchen.

That said, it's likely not a particularly big deal.

Good Luck!

Are you on propane (LPG) or natural gas? If on propane, then the oven has not been converted to propane properly.

GAS RANGE CONVERSION TO PROPANE

Try this site for the conversion factor: http://www.onlineconversion.com/pressure.htm . 1 Water Column [inch] = 0.0361 pound/square inch (PSI) (to a reasonable number of significant figures).

I hope this helps.

(However, your stove and tank must be very different than mine. We didn't need to adjust the inlet input for the max PSI, just make sure that the incoming pressure was in the standard range for LP. New stove installed last month after old one suffered a failure of the oven valve.)

Switched from natural gas to propane now oven flames up sides how do I fix? Model#362.75571691

Propane and natural gas are two different fuels and require adjustments to the appliances to which theye are connected. Typically, when converting to propane from natural gas, a pressure regulator and a change in gas jets are required. This is because propane has a different heating value (hotter) and behaves differently.

Also, propane doesn't burn as cleanly as natural gas so after you have made the hardware changes, if you start to smell something in the kitchen, you may need to crack a window slightly to provide for better venting.

Please be careful

Where do all orifices go on anything gas? Right there where the burner meets gas valve. The air shutter sits right in front of the orifice for proper air to gas ratio right.Go out and look at yer gas grill. Where the burners meet the gas valve ye shall find the orifice.

How to convert from natural gas to propane

All stoves in this country come from the factory with orifices designed to use natural gas. To switch over to propane, the orifices have to be changed over. Contact your propane provider and they will obtain the proper orifices for your range. They may even install them for free. good luck.

Swithed to LP

Natural Gas has a pressure at about 1/4oz psi. Propane runs at a much higher pressure 8 psi to 15 psi. For your safety do not use the oven until it is garenteed that the oven is rated for LP Gas!
Hope, this helps, Sea Breeze
