I was using an airtel prepaid simcard, now I got a vadaphone postpaid card. When I am inserting my new sim then my phone is asking for a security code

Call the Airtel Customer care (Dehli) on one of these numbers:
Direct Customer Care : 198
For Postpaid 9810012345 and
9810198101 for Prepaid.
The best bet is use another working airtel sim card or borrow your friend's phone who is using airtel network.
Tell them your problem and provide them the sim card information like registration information (name, address etc..). They'll tell you the Puk code with the instructions on how to disable it and how to set it.

When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :-
This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone.
They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone.
Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.
You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service.
The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services. Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code” companies in your area.

The IMEI number is unique the each mobile phone.
The number is printed on the label under the battery.
You can also get the IMEI number by entering this on your phone
*#06# It will then display your IMEI number and you may also get a unique global serial number. Your IMEI number should be 15 digits.

Imate jama i can't make outgoing calls please could u help me

Hi, i just bought a new imate Jama.....but the problem is that this phone cannot make outgoing call when using an Airtel card, prepaid or postpaid..i tried 15 diff. Airtel cards). The phone is able to receive calls, send and recv. SMS and also use gprs. Only it cannot make outgoiing calls. It gives some beeps and cuts off !!! (This is in chennai India)

thats a really wierd one. is the airtel card a 3g sim? have you tried it in other NON-3g phones?

I know that the 3 network uses their U-Sims, and they are tempermental.

worst for worst, you can ask airtel to change your sim card

Hi

The default lock code is 12345.

If you changed it and forgot the security code please contacts your device dealer. They will reinstall the software fully and they will bring your mobile to default security code so that you can open your phone.

NOTE: While reinstalling the software all your contacts will be deleted.

This security lock prevents thieves from being able to make use of stolen handsets, that is why it can only be unlocked by authorised service centres.

While reinstall the software, device dealer will ask for your personal details to check whether the mobile belongs to you only. If they are satisfied with your answers they will start the process.
