Question about Sharp DV-NC80 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

VCR copyright Hi, I have bought a dvd-vcr combi to burn my personal VCRs to dvd's, but it does not let me because of the copyright protection. I believe this is really stupid not to allow to copy my own videos. Is there any way around this? best wishes, lev

it is actually the hollywood videos I bought for my own money,
which are mine and I should be able to do anything with them including burning! However, I am not able to copy them - for my own use - to another media. Which is, what is the word?

thanks, not yet, but I'll try when I get home. However, after reading around I realised that it may not be able to help as the copyright protection is an additional signal which goes together with the video signal (Macrovision copyright protection), so it is not so easy to remove. So, it looks like the problem is not that simple....

    I've found this discussion helpful:

May be you know all this? There is also a box sold in the UK that does the trick, but it is about 40-50 pounds:

But, thanks, I'll try your tip later today

On the side that faces out of the tape that sticks out of the vcr there should be a square indent. This makes the tape read only and tells the player that it is copyrighted. If you were to cover it with a piece of tape it should work. Just make sure the tape is on really good so that it doesn't fall off into your machine. I'm assuming they are your personal family videos that you accidentally broke the tab off of and not actual hollywood videos that you would get into trouble for copying.

I assume you are trying to record from a VCR tape to a dvd? It could be the copyright protection causing this issue. A little more information would be a great help. What are you trying to record? VCR Tapes. Are these home movies or are they retail movies. Macrovision prevents recording. If you are trying to record a television show, it could be the digital rights protection. do you have it connected to satellite or cable.

I've been copying a numerous VHS recordings to DVD format on my Panasonic VCR combi, and now it tells me 'this material can not be copied' or words to that effect! Regards, Joel

the problem is dvi incripting the vcr has detected that its connected to a unit that may copy images to another therefore breaking copyright law try using an icp breaker to stop the dvd from talking to the dvd
it works every time

Vcr to dvd

Hi I am Vortash sometimes you can sometimes not it depends if the movie you are trying to record has an electronic watermark .
This is an embedded signal within the movie to stop copyright breach .. there are devices available that cancel these watermarks out and you will find a few on Ebay or Amazon . Home videos and early films will usually copy no problem later more up to date films will most definitely be copywrite protected and have the watermark .. hope this is of help regards Vortash

Not really, these VCR tapes that are copyrighted from the store are highly secured. So you can not dub them actually.
