Drivers for vista

Hi,

Lexmark has not yet launched the drivers for windows Vista.
However, there are few work around that have been found to work.
First of all install the drivers for the printer from the disc for XP only in case you have not done that.
Once done..try the below 2 fixes.

Fix#1
Click start...control panel..printers
Right click on lexmark printer...click properties...go to advanced tab
locate the option that says driver..usually it would have the entry z25-z35.
Once you click on the drop down there should be another entry by the name of z25-z35 color printer
select that option and click apply.

Test the functionality.
If above does not work try the second fix

Fix#2
Click start...control panel..printers
right click on lexmark printer...click properties...go to ports tab
select USB00x instead of LPT 1

I want to download an updated version of my HP printer disc which only covers up to Vista. My new laptop is Windows 7

If you go to the HP website and can't find a Windows 7 driver for your printer, that printer may not be supported under Windows 7. You can try the Windows Vista driver, but if that doesn't work right you may have to get a new printer that is compatible with Windows 7.

WINDOWS 7 COMPATIBLE?

Yes, just use Windows 7 Update function to install proper drivers automatically. The drivers provided by Brother on CD do not work, though.

I bought a new laptop that runs on Vista and

Try plugging the printer in with no drivers and test it. This usually works as most printers do not need installation software because Vista has plug and play capabilities.

If this doesn't work, visit the HP website and choose drivers and software. Find your model number and download the Vista software or plug and play software.

Hello, I just bought a new laptop that has Windows Vista. My printer is a Hp Deskjet 5440 and it is not working. I dont think it is compatible with windows vista... is there a way to MAKE it compatible?......

HP Deskjet 5440 is compatible with 32Bit version of Windows Vista. You can check for device compatibility with Windows Vista at the link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Default.aspx?type=Hardware

You need to install the drivers for this printer to make it work with Vista. To download the updated drivers for this printer, go to the link below:

Can't install 2500 Lexmark printer to a Gateway desktop computer

Has nothing to do with who manufacturer of your computer...it is simply a "windows System" that's all that's relevant. What version of windows are you using? Perhaps it is Vista, and you are using an installation disc that is not compatible with Vista. Go to the Lexmark website and download from there. Not a bad idea even if you have a compatible disc...there may be a problem with it, if it is giving you errors.
Please provide more info on the problem your having, if the above doesn't help.

Cannot get printer to work on Windows Vista Home Basic

The disc you have is not compatible with Vista - They never considered that users would end up having this many issues with their wonderful software. You need to download the driver from their website for your model this is the currect updated version. Follow this link:

Printer

Obviously you have already tried to without success or else you would not be posting to this site. The answer is two-fold unfortunately. Sometimes manufactures cannot keep up with tech changes in OS and there is a driver update lag. If you did try to no avail, it means the install disc/driver is not updated enough to be compatable with vista. You have two choices. Run xp on your laptop instead of vista or go to Hewlett Packard web sit (google it) and go to download section. Download the update driver that is vista compatable if there is one available. Now, install the printer on you laptop using this new driver. Back it up on disc to avoid losing it and having to download it again.
