Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My ascer aspire 5101 does not power up correctly - it powers up for one second then switches itself off. If i try to power up again a few seconds later it does not power up at all. If i remove the battery and plug in the AC adapter the computer still will not boot. The battery gets charged ( indicator changes from orange to green ). If i try to boot with battery only then it will do so and then switch itself off after one second the same with the AC connected. However when i try to boot with the AC and the battery connected a few seconds later then there is no boot up at all.

Could be a motherboard issue. Do you ever see anything on the screen like the manufacturer's boot up screen? If so it could indicate a hard drive problem.

How does my Casio calculator keeping switching itself off after a few seconds?

It is trying to save battery power. Just turn it off yourself when you finish. Read the manual and try to discover if there is a way to choose the idle time before it powers down.

Acer aspire netbook wont turn on flashing white light on power button

Did you try to flash a new BIOS? If so, you might be in trouble and
need probably to reflash the new BIOS. (Look at Acer site for info).
But anyway try:

1. Push and hold the Power On switch for 4-6 seconds.
Try to Power On again.

2. If this does not work, do a Power Reset:
- Disconnect powersupply cable and pull out the battery.
- Hold the Power button for 60 seconds a few times.
- Place the battery and powercupply cable.
- Try to Power On.

We have a new Acer Aspire one and the mouse is frozen. When I try to turn off the unit nothing happens. How do I free the unit or turn off everything?

As this was posted a month ago, I'm presuming you've solved the problem?
However, when your laptop locks up completely, the mouse won't move and the keyboard is unresponsive (press the caps lock key and see if the caps lock LED comes on or off?)
Press and HOLD the power button for a few seconds until the laptop powers off, Wait a few seconds and then power it on again, the computer may moan that it wasn't shut down correctly, but this is normal (because you couldn't shut down correctly)

1) I turn on the power and place a prerecorded

If it is not a bad soldering joint somewhere, it could be the mode switch. They can sometimes be cleaned with Servisol Video 40, but you might have to replace it.

I have a 19'' baird tv that is staying on standby.

your h.o.t. horiz. output transistor is more than likely shorted and this is how a switching power supply protects itself it does a self test and if parameters and current/voltage aren't correct this is what happens
