Hold the bit into the bench vise & pull the drill wiggle at the same time.

How do I get the mouth to close around the drill bit? It did in the past, but not now.

the 'mouth' is called the 'chuck'.

Depends if it has a chuck key or is hand tightened. I'll assume it is a drill screwdriver with no key.

Above the trigger is a slide which dictates whether the chuck goes clockwise or anticlockwise. Push this to the mid position which locks the chuck. Now you can insert the drill or screwdriver bit and lock the chuck by turning it clockwise.

I have lost the chuck tool and cannot get the bit out, how can I remove it without the removal tool?

Take a Phillips screwdriver and insert it into one of the three holes you would normally install the removal tool. Use one that it closest to the size of the hole. With a large vise grip or channel-lock pliers, clamp onto the outer ring of the chuck (where the teeth are) and clamp tightly. Holding the screwdriver, rotate the pliers to loosen the chuck and remove the bit.

How to remove a drill bit from insert of screw that holds on driver on an elecctric drill?

do you have the "chuck key"? this is the tool you will need to undo the chuck (part which holds the drill bit). it is often stored in holder in handle of drill. If you dont have chuck key you can improvise using 2 slot head screwdrivers: insert one into one of the 3 holes around chuck, then insert the other into the teeth around check and lever against the 1st screwdriver.

How do i change the bit?

It just pulls out if its a screwdriver and if it has a quick release chuck then pull chuck back towards drill body and pull bit out.

Someone stuck a conventional driver bit into the impact driver and it is stuck tight.

VERY GENTLY. . . . use a flat tip screw driver to try to push the collar forward so that it will release the bit. You may need to gently hold the handle of the impacter in a table vice or something like that to steady the tool, then push forward on the collar with a screwdriver and use a pair of pliers to pull outward on the bit at the same time.

Or instead of a screwdriver try vicegrips that are adjusted loose enough to just lock but not squeeze when closed. Pliers that grip too tightly may bend the collar and keep it from being able to slide forward to release bits.

Drill bit won't in securely - Black & Decker DP240 Screwdriver

I am going to assume that the bit you are trying to insert is a 1/4 hex drive. If so are you pulling or pushing on the collar of the tool holder to insert or remove a bit. Make sure that the hex on the bit is not twisted also. Let me know and I will go from there.

Hitachi Quick Release Drill problem

put a box end wrench 7/16 or a 3/8 over the bit. put the bit in a vise. Lightly tap the wrench with a hammer while holding the relase sleeve back. usually need 2 people. 1 to hold the drill and the sleeve and 1 to hold the wrench and hammer. try a little tranny fluid or wd40 in the chuck. don't use the painted bits. use onle the chrome ones
