Where can I get a replacement glass mirror for the S20 Scanner? I have the module out of the scanner and here is the data on the housing that holds the mirror: Made in USA B-1326 >PC (GF20)< Rev B C5100-41203 CAV 1 It is an HP C5101A PhotoSmart Photo Scanner s/n SG88B1105D The long glass, apparently for the prints that I scan, is broken in the middle. The scanner had been working well up until I discovered the broken glass; the "not-me ghost" or the cleaning lady is the apparent culprit.

Not the scanner -unless you have allowed the page framing to slip- check that out More likely the printer- and an indicator that the waste ink tank is over full and needs servicing. Goto www.fixyourownprinter- and log into your model to see how to do it.

SOURCE: HP Solutions Center can not communicate with HP 3500c Scanner

Had exact same problem. Went to HP site and they said to check "add or remove programs" functions (in control panel) and if there are multiple copies of HP software to download their fix. I checked, had multiple copies, downloaded patch and all worked well again.

SOURCE: Unable to scan using HP Scanjet 3200C in Win XP Pro

Hi Shantala,

HP advises that, on some systems, the scanner hardware may get into an error state that will keep the scanning software from finding the 3200c ScanJet. If your scanner still isn't found after installing this driver and software update, please follow the directions below:

  1. Unplug the power cable from the 3200c ScanJet.
  2. Unplug the parallel cable(s) from the 3200c ScanJet.
  3. Shut down the PC and wait for ten seconds.
  4. Plug in the power cable to the 3200c ScanJet.
  5. Plug in the parallel cable(s) to the 3200c ScanJet.
  6. Power your PC on.
If you still have the problem, uninstall the driver from device manager, and download and run this .exe file version of the driver instead.. and if necessary, repeat the above steps..

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software4/sj648/sj-1436-3/sj648en.exe

Hope this helps

How to check exposure lamp on ricoh sc101?

Clean the true white on the slit glass housing. Check for a dirty scanner mirror or that the scanner mirror is out of position. Also, check if the scanner is blocked or if the dirty white plate underneath the glass is obstructed. Try cleaning the glass with water. To reset this error try the code:

"Clear Mode"+107+"Clear/Stop" hold for 5s.

Turn ON and OFF the Main Switch.

Scanner errors on HP 3330, 3380 and other 33XX Printer/Scannners

1. Turn off printer and unplug power.

2. Lift up scanner lid so that you can see the scanning glass

3. Locate the screw on the top left side next to the small window of glass. (1 in picture) This glass is the section used for scanning from the automatic document feeder. Remove that screw and then the plastic that it was holding. Lift the glass out.

4. With the glass removed you can see the drive belt for the scanner. You need to rotate it until the scanner head moves to the left far enough that you can see the top of the moving part of the scanner. You will see a thin light bulb and a slot. Do not touch the lightbulb, it is fragile. You may need to pull on the assembly to move it the last bit to access the slot

5. Use a flashlight to see down into the slot, you will see a thin mirror that runs the width of the slot. If that mirror is dirty, that may be the problem and it needs to be cleaned.

6. Use a q-tip moistened with either alcohol or window cleaner to gently clean the mirror. Make sure you do not leave any lint in there.

7. Replace the glass and turn printer back on. If this is going to work it should come to ready.

Printer keeps making an adjusting noise

If it is the scanner making the adjustment noise it is because it is having problems adjusting scanner either for location or white balancing. You can try one thing that sometimes fixes the problem, but if this does not work then you will likely need to replace.

1. Turn off printer and unplug power.

2. Lift up scanner lid so that you can see the scanning glass

3. Locate the screw on the top left side next to the small **** of glass. This glass is the section used for scanning from the automatic document feeder.

944 service scanner failure

This is a hardware issue. Lamp failure - one or both of the lamps failed, or the CCD cable has failed. Check the CCD cable for proper connection and connectivity. If inspection passes, replace the CCD carriage.

Our company has a Xerox C20. Pages keep printing out with white streaks in them. The ink cartridge has been recently changed, and I cleaned the drum cartridge. What should I do stop the white streaks from...

It could be a couple of things. Either the scanner or the laser. We can eliminate the scanner by you printing out a report. Either the meter read report or system data. If the reports print with out the white lines, you have eliminated the laser. If the lines are on the report, then the problem is in the laser.
Now, to clean both.
1. To remove and clean the laser, you first want to shut down and unplug the machine. On the left side, ( the side with the on off switch) you will see 2 screws in the cover. You want to remove those screws, pull the paper tray out slightly and then lift slightly up and pull on the cover, It has these tabs on it that make it tight to remove. But don't be afraid to pull, it will release and you may think you broke something, but you didint .... Now you look in about 10 inches you will see a black box with a some red wires running to it. That is the laser. You will need a stubby magnetic phillips screw driver to remove it. There are 3 screws holding it in place. On in back and two on the front sides. Remove those screws and then disconnect the 2 connectors to the laser and remove the unit. Then place it on a table, there are zero screws holding the laser cover on, Just about 5 or 6 tabs that you have to release with a screwdriver and the cover will pop off. Clean all the lenses and mirrors with a soft damp cloth, and be sure not to leave any dust on those mirrors or lenses. You will also see a silver 7 sides mirror array on a motor. Clean the front of those mirrors. They are the front curved surfaces on that rotating assembly. Clean them well. Then snap the cover back on and reinstall the laser. DO NOT remove any of the laser lenses or mirrors. Just be sure they are dust free.
Now, if you need to remocve and clean the scanner.
Open the door where you install the toner/drum. Above the cartridges you will see 2 phillips screws. You have to remove those. Then on the back of the machine, you need to remove the rear cover, ( 6 screws) then there are 3 screws under the lip of the scanner that have to be removed. ( Oh yea, I forgot, take the document feeder off first, unscrew the connector and lift the feeder off). Once you remove those screws. locate the processor board on the right side, on the top of that there is a plug with red wires from the scanner conected to the board, and then there is a white ribbon cable, remove it, and a green ground wire screwed to the metal bracket. Remove that also. Pull the scanner back and up to remove.
Once you have the scanner removed, flip it upside down. You will have to remove the 3 screws on the front bottom side and remove the consol, then unplug the consol and set asside.
Then there are 5 or 6 screws that hold the glass and bottom part of the scanner together. Remove those screws and flex the scanner cover out on the sides to release a couple of plastic tabs holding hte scanner together. Then clean the bottom of the glass. Set the bottom of the scanner upright and you will see the scanner head, the black box like item with the lamps. You have to very carefully release upper portion of the scan head with the lamps from the bottom portion to access the mirrors. Use a small screw driver to release the tabs. I caution you not to be forceful or you can slip the screwdriver to far in and brean a mirror. Once again clean ALL the mirrors and the small lens.leave no dust on the mirrors. Then carefully reassamble the scanner and machine.
Once you clean that you must then do a shading adjustment. ( Calabrating the scanner).
Once the machine returns to ready, press the keys in this order. Menu,#,1934. YOu should then see a " T " on the screen. You are in the tech mode. Press your machine status button, then scroll to maintenance, then scroll to adhust shading or just shading.
Place 5 pieces of white paper on the glass, press start, when it asks you if you want to adjust shading press start again. Then shut the machine off and back on.
Should fix it by cleaning the scanner or laser.

Streaks on prints

Lines/streaks at the same location indicate either a speck of dust stuck on the glass or the glass may be scratched.

hp laserjet 3055 by scanner error 6
Solution: I found a very small piece of paper between the glass and the scanner housing. The lamp's seen that and sent the error message. Nobody find that little stucked paper and the "IT expert" sad: need to buy a new machine because he can't repair it. So, sometimes the solution is very easy just need some attention. :)
