Run through your settings again
Set your webcam mic (if it has one) as default
Vista - If you have an earlier OS, you may have to access your hardware from the Control Panel and set the default mic from there - make sure its plugged in.

Plug in the webcam

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

http://www.testmycam.com/

If it fails to work here concentrate on your webcam drivers and software before moving forward.

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Open MSN
Click 'Open Menu'
From 'Tools; navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup'
Set your speakers
Click 'Test' - if OK, move on.
Set your mic as default
Use the slider to set volume and test.
Click 'Next'
This takes you to the video setup
Your webcam should be broadcasting - (if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN)
Use 'Webcam Settings'to fine tune the picture.
Click 'Finish'

How do i use my built in webcam

Step 1:
An example of a device that has come a long way is the webcam. Originally, these devices were highly priced, slow and complicated to operate, but today webcams are easy to use, efficient and inexpensive. In some models, laptops even have a webcam built in. If you want to use a webcam to chat with family or friends, you don't have to be technically savvy. By following several simple steps, you'll be on your way to having fun with your webcam.

Plug your webcam's USB cable into a USB port and turn on your computer. Once the computer's operating system finds the camera, it will ask you if you want to install the driver. Click on "Yes" or "Install" and insert the installation disc that came with your camera when prompted. Wait for your webcam's software to finish installing. Access your webcam's settings once it's installed. Click on its icon on your desktop or access it through where it was installed in your computer. Adjust your webcam's settings by customizing the camera's resolution, speaker and microphone to your liking. This process will vary depending on your webcam, but usually you can access these settings through the "settings" menu. Other functions include being able to take still photos, recording "motion pictures" as well as doing audio captures. These settings will be displayed by obvious icons on the webcam's software menu. Features will vary depending on the type of webcam. Test the built-in microphone or use an external headphone set so you can also talk to other people via webcam. To test the microphone, simply run a "sound test." This can be accessed under the "settings" menu in the "sounds" section. Open a free account with Yahoo! Messenger, Skype, Windows Live or ICQ by going to their websites and installing the software. For instance, if you want to install Yahoo! Messenger, simply go to Yahoo.com and click on the "Messenger" link on the left side of the screen next to the "smiley face" icon, and install the software by clicking on the "Download Now" tab and following the instructions. Invite other friends to your chat. Voice over IP software services such as Yahoo! Messenger, Skype and Windows Live have integrated features that allow you to converse with other people while seeing each other through the webcam. Invite friends by opening the chat software you are using and clicking on the "add new contact" or "add" option and typing the person's email or User ID in the blank box. Wait for the other person to accept your invitation. Once you see the person listed under your contacts, right-click and select the "video call" or "video chat" option. This will vary depending on the software you are using, but the process is similar regardless of the software you decide to use.
Use a Built-In Webcam b> Open Yahoo Messenger and select "My Webcam" from the "Messenger" menu. This will bring up a window showing what your webcam sees. To invite one of your contacts to view your webcam, right-click on them in your contacts list and choose "Invite to View My Webcam" from the "More Actions" area of the pop-up menu. Your contact will receive an invitation to view your webcam. Open Skype and select a contact you'd like to call. Skype will automatically detect that you have a webcam attached to your computer and give you the option to place either a voice-only or a video call to the contact. Choose "Video call" and your contact will be able to see and hear you. Open Picasa and select the webcam icon to the right of the "Import" button. A window displaying a view from your webcam will pop up. Click the "Record" button to begin recording a video or the camera icon to take a snapshot.

How do i connect my web cam to my yahoo messinger

I am going to assume that you already have installed your webcam and can use it within windows with the software it came with.

I am also going to assume you are using yahoo messenger 10.

To activate your webcam in Yahoo! Messenger 10 in the top menu click Messenger, then from there select My WebCam.

Read the warning that should pop up, click OK and then select your speed preference and click OK.
Another box should come up showing your webcam view. It will monitor how many users are watching yor webcam.

Why can't i get my webcam to work whilst on msn live, its inbuilt

Hi,1Log in to your account at the MSN Web site. Locate the "Webcam" icon underneath your Display picture. 3 Click the "Webcam" icon. 4Select "Send My Webcam" to the person that you want to send your video to. 5 Wait for your chat partner to accept your Webcam invitation. Once he or she accepts it, your live video feed will begin. 6Finish sending the video feed by clicking the "Webcam" icon once again. To hide or show it, Open MSN Messenger on your computer. 2Click the "Tools" menu and then select "Options" from the drop-down list. Step3Locate the "Personal" link and click it with your mouse. 4 Find the "My Webcam" area and either select or de-select next to where it says "Allow Others to See That I Have a Webcam." This is handy for letting those in your chat list know whether you can have a video chat with them--whether or not they have Webcams too Hope this helps Regards
