Makes all usual noises throws paper out but the paper is blank I am trying to print an email from my pc I have checked all the obvious things i am not very literate

Check to see if printer has been set to economy setting which uses less toner and comes out sort of gray.

Your printers ink Carthage is empty ! making noise of printing and blank pages is because of the empty cartage bring a new cartage and then printer will print the pages

For 34 Short Paper error, reseat the tray guides and make sure it is set properly. Also, set the correct settings in the computer. For blank pages, always double-check the paper settings and again the settings in the computer. For not printing black, print the Print Quality page and see what color is not printed or not showing. If Print Quality shows black, try printing any document from any application in the computer. Check if you still have the problem. If problem is not resolved, leave a comment so I can get back to this.

First thing is if you haven't printed for while the ink may have dried in the print head. Run it through a few (lots) of print cycles and see if that starts to bring it back to life.

Check to make sure that you have the paper thickness set close enough.

My bet would be on the print head being clogged.

OK the next thing i can tell you to do is try to clean the contacts use a q tip wit alcohol on it

plz try by reloading the drivers, then check the page size is correct in printer tray

Try updating the driver, it should be available from Brother's website.

Have you checked the obvious things? Such as pulling the tape off the new cartridge? Also make sure the transfer roller under the toner cart. is in securely.

These are basically throw away printers. But you might try checking the paper path. There are small plastic "arms" that guide the paper as its picked up and goes throught he printer. Sometimes one of these may get stuck in a position that makes the printer think there is paper in the path somewhere.
