sorry wrong post....But the solution to your problem is to uninstall the device and reinstall it back...to uninstall it...assuming that you are running windows xp...click on start, right click on my computer and go to properties..you should have your system properties open then click under hardware then device manager...look for the sansa device..it usually located under portable device..if its not showing there i would recommend you to look for under disk drives and see if its there..right click on the device and click on uninstall...after you unintall it unplug your device from the computer....Then follow this link below to download the porting kit..http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai... .Then check the mode of yuor device to make sure it sunder MTP not msc...To check the mode go under menu, settings and choose usb mode...After you check the mode open up your windows media player click on tools, options and click under privacy...clear the history and caches...after you finish you can plug the device on the back of the computer not the front then windows should recongnize it and it should work properly..if that doesnt solve the problems upgrade your windows media player to 11 even though you have done that already..and try to reconnect your device..make sure you have it on the back of your computer...

Should you have any questions..let me know..
    P.S.Please rate accordingly...

Sansa e260 mp3 not recognised as a device on my computer

An Update: that yellow square means that it is not recognised, I missed it on the first read through. It means you do not have the required driver to run this application. First port of call is Microsoft Support and see if they have any thing, else Google it and try to find a free one that supports your player. Sorry about my previous post.

It suddenly stopped working

Long way...wait for the battery to run out then charge it. You might want to try holding the power button down for a few seconds to see if it turns off. You could also remove the battery from the device. Unscrew the four screws from the back, gently pry off the cover and remove the battery.

When you get the system on, and it is recognized by your PC, reformat the puppy and then unplug it from the computer. It should format back to factory defaults. You can update the firmware using this tool (link)

My Sansa e260 won't recognise a 4gig micro card.

There are two types of 4gig micro sd,

theres MicroSDHC For nokia phones or
MicroSD Standard
The HC have a file format on them that only Nokias and Samsungs tend to recognise for mobile data transfer and access. The standard cards don't.

Hope this helps

Computer Won't Recognise MP3

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
-----
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx
