I have a Dell desktop 2007 computer. I was making copies of ads...then my computer shut off and kept blinking YELLOW light and wouldn't come on again.. went to the computer shop and the guy took something...

He probably didnt plug the power cable to the dvd player since its not showing up.
Open your computer and see if the multicolor power cable to the dvd player is pluged in.

If not it probably went with the power supply he replaced.

Dell dimension will not recognize a new hard drive or boot from windows disk. all conection seem OK

Hi tomcartp...

Go to Device Manager
To get to Device Manager you will:
Right click on My Computer>Properties>click the Hardware Tab>Device Manager.
After you are in Device Manager look for your MP3 player or Unit.
Here you should see no "Yellow" exclamation points.
If you do they they are telling you that you have a device conflict.
If you currnetly have your unit plugged in, you may notice the "unknown device" which would be your Player or Unit.
If you unit has an exclamation point by it, then you will need to click on it and delete it.
After you remove all devices with conflicts then click on refresh and search again for your MP3 player/Device.
The computer should install your device this time and solve your problem with connection of the MP3 player/Device.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up.

How can I boot Windows XP from my USB Disk drive on my DELL Dimension 4500 computer ?

Hello,
When you have switched on your PC, strike F2 several times or DEL to enter to your Bios set up. As sson as you're in, set boot rpiority to USB Disk drive as your priority boot sector instead of Hard Disk drive.
If you don't have CDROM player/drive, you can use USB as priority boot but you may have another installer for reformatting via USB.
Blessings.

Dell xps 400 keyboard and mouse not working, but the keyboard does work in when in service mode

If it works in service mode, then it is not a hardware problem. Boot Windows in "Safe Mode" using the F5 Key as it is Booting to Windows. That should make it re-discover the KB and Mouse. Make sure the KB and Mouse are pluged into the right ports. Mouse Green and KB Purple

  • two ways to charge the battery:
    • while the laptop is on
    • while using the laptop with a power cord, but it will take charging time when you are using the computer.
  • --if the problem persist, the battery may have a problem, called dell technical support and have the battery serial number for possible battery recall. or replacement

If it is a USB then it should work with any keyboard and mouse. When you say it shuts off after XP loading screen, does the machine power off? have you tried unplugging the mouse and keybaord and let Windows load?

Computer looking for a non-exsistant drive

Hi, the reason why you are getting the message is because the bios is set to seek the floppy disk and the setting is enabled and to resolve that you just need to disable the option on the bios

Entering the System Setup Program
  1. Turn on (or restart) your computer.

  2. When the DELL™ logo appears, press <F2> immediately.

  3. If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft® Windows® desktop. Then, shut down your computer and try again.
Set the boot order to boot to the hard drive

Hello Urwin, looks like your Mp3 is using more than 5 volts and overloading the u.s.b. power supply. Has it got its own power? if so is it fully charged?
Good Luck!
